****Official PC vs Console thread****

Well, with the way some threads get going in here, and not wanting to poop in other peoples threads, I figured this is a good way to pass some time.

I wouldn't be mad if a mod went through the last PC V Console posts in the next gen thread and moved them over

I'll start -

I would like to point out the above image that currently the revenue for consoles is currently higher. This is because console games, on average, are nearly twice the price of PC titles.

DISCUSS

edit: I would like to bring conversation in other threads to this thread as they appear, to avoid hijacking legit console or other media threads~

The only thing PC has is better graphics, which for an isometric game like Diablo really isn't anything special.
Again, has nothing to do with the hardware, the console version was just a beta test.

My brother told me about this game called Star Citizen that sounds awesome I've yet to watch any videos, but it sounds like something I can get into.

PCs are doing it so wrong that consoles are trying more and more to be like a true pc.

Shame they will never get there because the whole idea behind a console is flawed. You can't mass produce a customized system built around certain components with current gen technology which is why out of the box a console is already 2 years behind.

But regarding control scheme, you can configure your controls however you want on PC. You can even plug in a console controller if you want.
You can, but the dodge/roll simply doesn't exist in the PC game (unless they've since patched it in).

Way to take one part of my post out of context and try to use it to support your case.

I'm still just laughing at how defensive you are. What a hoot!

I dont need to support a case. The case has already been closed. Only the technologically challenged believe that consoles are actually worth the money, such as yourself. You haven't said a single thing that lies inside the confines of reality.

The only problem I have with the Console fans argument is that their cost of PC gaming is greatly exaggerated. You can get a very good gaming PC for about the price of a console

I myself enjoy both worlds

For all of this talk about how cheap it is to build this so called 400 dollar gaming computer that would trash a console, I'd be curious to actually see some linkage to this (apologize if I missed it in the thread.)

I don't know about that, but my 600$ build (including monitor, speakers...everything, not just the guts) from 2ish years ago looks so far like it will be able to run everything the next generation is going to throw at it. Of course I'm not interested in maxing games out.. even running stuff on minimum settings is fine for me.

I did take advantage of a couple nice sales, though.

600 bucks is pretty feasible, and I would completely understand going that route. Hell if they ever put out a steam machine that is 500 bucks, and doesn't get owned by the current consoles or is the same as, which the 500 dollar option is, I would consider that. Putting together a computer doesn't appeal to me like some, but I do see the value in saving but by putting one together.

I don't think I would go the steam machine route, personally. Given the whole SteamOS thing, I don't think it would be particularly useful beyond gaming. I think, if you were considering that, you would be much better off just buying a console.

That and you can hook any gaming pad you want to a PC.

I have a little USB dongle that let's me use an Xbox controller on my PC for certain games all the time.

PC = any control interface you want
Console = single brand specific controller

Little low on your dollar amount.

Raise it to $500-600 and you can start. You are immediately going to tack on $60 to the price of a console if you plan on doing anything online.

I can't even remember the equivalent GPU inside the "next gen" consoles by iirc its a 77XX. You can easily build a PC with more HD space, with dedicated CPU/GPU that uses a 660/r9 270+ in the 500-600 range.
