I'm not assuming shit. I'm saying if things continue on this path, the offense will be the shortfall of the team.

What a horrible throw.

Doesn't check his progressions.

We'll never win a game with this guy at QB.

Super-Bowl material? Hardly.
That is really clever. Alice? See you made Alex's name a woman's name. Ha. It took me a minute... But THAT is good. Phew.

I'm not going to dwell on it this week because I enjoyed the win too much.

But this offense is not going to be a sustainable path to playoff football. Smith is not making good presnap reads. He's also clearly afraid to place a throw to the outside receivers. He has to be able to test the edges and not just rely on guys being open out of cuts. Defenses have 8 quarters worth of reasons to stack the box and crowd the middle of the field. They will continue to blitz with impunity if Alex is incapable of burning them for it.

Smith is a better QB than Cassel by miles, but what our offense is doing is not going to be a sustainable recipe for winning.
This is a good post except we heard this all off-season and we are 2-0. Everyone swore Smith was Cassel yet here we are, 2-0.
Everyone said Smith won't win us games yet here we are, 2-0.

I am not disagreeing with your post but I am saying that the whole "he isn't playing, playoff football" is rather suspect since he is doing what he did in SF.

This was game 2 of a new offense. And we are 2-0. I'm just sayin'

10 years from now we will all be looking back on these glory days with Alex Smith as our QB and how we were winning nothing but regular season games. Just like how we don't pass over the 90's and go straight to 1969.

He threw the ball downfield a couple times and afterwards people still said he won't throw the ball down the field.

Matt Cassel has been 2-0 twice in his life.

In fact, once he was 3-0!

#32 in yards per completion is very Casselesque.

An easy throw. Cowboys defense blew that big time.

You can win 8 or 9 games with this guy this year. That's better than 2 - 14. The idea is to take steps in the right direction as you continually improve. You are on the right path. It's not a Super Bowl team anyway. You don't have enough talent yet. But maybe you can build it over time.

It's amusing how butt hurt you are with Smith being 2-0 while Geno has been a turnover machine.
