ya, you want that shaved steak, onions and peppers, steam a few slices of provolone or american on the pan and you will be in heaven. Be wise of your bread selection, it will make the difference. I like mayo and sriracha added to mine tho

REAL Philly fans throw batteries at anyone who doesn't like their cheesesteak or their cream cheese.

It's good, but it's nowhere as good as I thought it would be. I was expecting them to be legendary. The cheese steaks I ate in Philadelphia are as good or worse than the cheese steaks I've had in KC.

Maddox put the Philly cheesesteak on the top of his list of overrated sandwiches. Like him, I've never had one that was all that good, which is pretty pathetic given how many calories they have and how easy-going my standards are when it comes to food.

I think my cheese steak sandwich might have landed me my wife. Interestingly enough, my recipe was completely improvised, having never been to Philly. I used thinly sliced fresh roast beef, mushrooms, sweet onion and sweet peppers. In my ignorance, I assumed that a Philly cheese steak would be made with cream cheese rather than Cheez Whiz. Cream cheese works very well with the other ingredients, and I served it in a "channeled" Kaiser roll.
Works for me.

I will also add that Provolone is the way to go on a Cheesesteak |

My absolute favorite sandwich!
Whenever I hit a deli or bar that serves a philly, I will get the philly. It is hit and miss with the establishment. The best philly I ever had was this Czech bar in Denver. The guy in the kitchen was one hell of a cook- everything he made was fabulous. It was mostly Czech food, but out of this world. One night, our pool team was playing and the cook put a Philly sandwich on the menu for the night- it was the absolute BEST damn sandwich I'd ever eaten! I begged them to add it to the menu, but it never showed up.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Philadelphia, and their cheesesteaks suck. Freaking pepperjack's makes a better sandwich than anything I've had in Philly.

I had no idea a "real" Philly had ****ing Cheez Whiz in it. That's disgusting.

Dalessandros or bust. Seriously, the best. It's just good.
I'm not about to crown the place the king of cheesesteaks but I always go there and there are much better options than the popular Pats and Genos. Even Jim's on South Street is worth it if you walk across the street and get a Lorenzo's pizza slice and make a Philly Taco. |

I love cheesesteaks. I spread philly cream cheese on mine. I have no idea what the official way to make them, I do it my way.
