Our new property!

We purchased our dream property today! 17 acres, 2 well-stocked ponds, decent amount of timber, place to shoot my guns etc. etc. We plan to list our house in town after my daughter graduates next year. When our house sells, we'll move into the cabins while our dream home is being built.
Years of hard work have gone into making this a reality. Feeling very satisfied and thankful!

My plan for the ticks is to get rid of as many raccoons as I can and then get some guinea fowl to eventually release there. They control ticks very well.
As for the thorns, I've got to figure out what they are and how the hell to kill them. I attached a picture. Anyone know what it is and how to permanently murder it?

Pretty sure that's wild Raspberry.

You can kill it with Tordon.

Are wild raspberries in Iowa any good to eat or are they thought of as more of a weed?

That sounds like a winner. Do you know how to make raspberry jam?

Congrats on your property. It looks amazing.

actually, both of you.

I'm still renting....so, I've got that going for me.
If in the right spot, renting isn't bad at all. It can accommodate many types of lifestyles for the better.

Honestly, I was fully prepared to be renting, until they continuously upped the cost of the same townhouse each annual lease renewal. It got to the point where buying a house was cheaper.

I truly feel blessed to have received the breaks in life that have come my way, and to have the smarts to recognize them.

Seriously, I hope to have something like what you posted one day. That is certainly one of a kind, and right up my alley. Congrats to you as well.
