****Official Royals @ Rays Gamethread 8/28****

Happy Ben Zobrist Day! The guy is in their franchise 4, is having a video tribute to him shown before the game and his wife is singing the National Anthem before the game tonight. Anyways, Volquez on the mound tonight.

I don't think the Royals need to take notes about anything. They're amazing

Playing with fire. He may literally be our 5th best reliever. Is what it is

Holland is better on short rest and also seems better when has no room for error. It does seem like it would be best to make sure he pitches a few times that last week regardless. I do like the idea of Davis handling the big guns and Holland the bottom half however that falls I don't see Ned doing that, but it's a nice thought.

To be fair Hootie has some really perceptive takes and made a few dynamite predictions about this team.

In October, he said that the playoffs would give huge boons to the confidence of our young players. When we were projected to fall back this year, Hootie laughed this off and pointed to playoff experience as an unmeasurable factor (much to the scorn of a few on this board).

In April, he predicted that Cain's new approach at the plate would allow him to drive the ball and would lead to a record year for him. At the time, many berated him for predicting that Cain would have such a boost in power.

And since his signing, Hootie predicted that Volquez would be nails with this team (I am gladly eating crow on this to this day).

All in all, he's incredibly insightful about the game. Unfortunately, he rarely admits fault on his failed projections and can be confusingly belligerent in otherwise civil discussions. I still like him, though.
