X Box One or PS4?

We have a Wii U but my six year old has all but outgrown it. She got through the first four worlds of Super Mario World 3D in less than four hours last Christmas Day and she's mastered every title I've purchased since.

I'm not a gamer and don't really plan to play, other than with her (and she'll beat me nearly every time, which isn't really much fun) so it's really for her.

Which platform is better? It "seems" like most, if not all of the games, are available on both systems. She will not be connected to the internet so that type of game play will not be a factor.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

I mistakenly assumed that every game would be available on each platform, so I guess I need to do a little more research. She's definitely more into the Rayman Legends/Origins type of quest game. Violence is definitely not her thing.

Thanks!

How is the PS4 controller compared to the PS3 controller? I could not stand the PS3 controller. The top buttons felt weird and the joystick didn't feel as good (maybe as smooth) as the Xbox.

It's so easy for her that she's begun making instructional videos that will be posted on YouTube soon. I bought her a capture card and broadcast headset with a microphone, and she plays and describes tricks and secrets. It's a trip.

Wow, that's awesome. I imagine one day I'll Google for a walkthrough of a level in a game and will hear your 6 year old on the other end of a video... well, the solution is obvious...

I'd say it's improved quite a bit. It's smaller, a little heavier, has a touchpad interface, mood lights and the triggers are much improved. They're very sensitive to pressure. My bitch is the battery life is noticeably less. I need to buy another so I don't have to plug it in all the time.
I think they modeled the Xbox controller a little.

Bravo for your princess. She's gonna run your world (and you're gonna love it).

To be clear, some games are cross platform. Some are not.
What do her friends have? It works best if they have the same platform.

I've always been an Xbox guy but don't think my wife will let me buy a console unless it's the PS4. Hopefully the controller is a lot better.

PS4 controller is easily the best and most comfortable controller made. I'm definitely NOT alone in this statement.

If she likes Rayman, she will LOVE Little Big Planet. You almost assuredly will have to purchase online access though because the creating community makes excellent levels daily to play. It also sounds like your daughter will be creating all kinds of stuff herself. She could make her own movies on that game. Seriously.

Should mention, that is not a cross platform game. that is PS3/PS4 only.

Yeah, it's awesome. I don't know if it's her genes or the fine arts preschool she attended for 3 years before kinder but she's all about the music and art. I love it.

Yeah, that's what I've just read. It looks like some are exclusive but many are shared. I'll have to dig a little deeper before purchasing.

Surprisingly, there aren't that many kids her age that are into video games but those that are have the Wii U console. But none of them even want to play with her because she's so advanced because it's just not fun (and I totally get that, too).

I should mention, you don't need online to create. You just need it to view others stuff and share your own.

Trading in my 360 and $230 for an XB1 with the 2 AC games plus Master Chief Collection is really damn tempting even though I just got a PS4 a month ago...

This would be excellent for her as well. Multiplatform too.
