Tell me why this wouldnt make a good little basic HTPC

With a little tweeking and a tv tuner card 750 gb hd already have. This has a 10 dollar new egg rebate plus an additional 10% off with new sign up Vme and 2 day free shipping with shoprunner brings it to 79.00. Heck the windows license is worth that.

Personally I'd never buy a HP computer.

I don't personally know anyone who bought one that didn't break within the first few months. They offer all of these 'rebates' which require you to mail in the proof of purchase.. but in doing so voids the warranty. Sleazy business.

Though being refurbished it will probably work better than it would brand new. Honestly though the value is sure there.

I'm more of a 'parts' guy. I just upgrade parts as needed. I find some great cheap stuff on Newegg for that.

Got an HP laptop for work that has lasted over 3 years (including 2 upgrades). Probably the most stable laptop I've ever had outside of a couple of IBM Thinkpads.

MiL has an HP desktop that she's probably had for 6 years or more and still running just fine, if a bit slow.

Yeah Ive had pretty good luck with HP but if id waited a day the Egg had a Lenovo business machine for 99.00 that had a better CPU and little more Ram.

But for what I plan to do is make a entry level HTPC see if I like it. Then if I find that this is the cats meow I will build to suit.

I've always had HP laptops at work and I haven't had a single problem related to the machine or hardware.
