Maclin's 2014 season would have been all-time Chiefs best

Just read that in an article...

"85 catches, 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns he had last season would have been the best all-around receiving year in Chiefs history."

Crabtree missed 6 games 2009-2011

Still got 302 targets still. Only 24th most of all WR but 49ers were 29th in total pass attempts.

Vernon Davis is not a well rounded weapon in the pass game you can't feed him targets like Tony G getting 150 a year.

Crabtree had the hype and when he slipped a bit to 10th pick as a guy some hyped as the best prospect in the draft.

When he was on the field he was given chances. 23% of passes went towards him.

He lacked 'it'. He is not a top flight athlete at WR. And missing all the time holding out and foot or something stopped him from getting any preseason action in 2010 or 2011.
He was not good #1 WR.

He caught 58% of passes to him for 13 yards a catch

Josh Morgan caught 62% for 13 yards a catch

They tried to move him off typical #1 WR playing outside position in 2011 with Braylon Edwards being signed. They were able to do it in 2012 and Crabtree was able to reach his potential in 2012 with some dominating numbers in the slot with Smith. The run with Kaepernick forcing him passes was not something that could be sustained.

All the times I checked, Vernon played TE.

Alex started 9 games that year. Kaepernick started 7. Look up Crabtree's splits. He had significantly more yards per game under kaepernick.

They're going to counter that Vernon Davis' numbers took a dip at the same time

Which doesn't matter because the 49ers PPG went up and they went to the ****ing Super Bowl.

I think Maclin has the chance to be the best receiver on this team since Stephone Paige.

It doesn't matter where the receiver lined up if he is moving the chains.

Everyone's numbers went down except for Crabtree. 50% of Kaeps passes went to Crabtree. Ironically, if kaepernick had just looked at Vernon Davis on fourth down instead of forcing it to Crabtree they win the super bowl.

But yes crabtree's numbers sky rocketed.

Unless the point of discossion is whether we think Maclin has much of a chance of matching his production from last year.
