Misc Anyone good with work scheduling?

My work schedule sucks. Im trying to retool it to be better for everyone. We have 10 employees, have to cover 7 days a week and need a minimum of 6 every day. Needs to have rotating days off. Currently have 8 hour days 5 on 2 off rotating every 28 days with off days falling back a day each rotation. Would love 10's but 8's work too. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we have an extra body sp the total is 11 for those days. Any way to improve the situation?

if I had a company that had variable shifts, I'd definitely be using an app.

Has to be an app that will serve you need. Hospitals do it.

Every app I've found is based around schedule management. You put in the info and schedules and the app maintains it. I need to build a custom schedule to fit the manpower requirements of my workplace within the bounds of 10 people. My brain hurts trying to figure it out.

I've used Schedule Base for years for my business (25-30 employees). Essentially the same as what you posted. Simple, nice program.

EDIT: Schedule base is a manual app. You program what you need, then put employees in place. I've been doing scheduling for over a decade, so it's quick and easy for me.

What are the operating hours? 8a-5p; 24 hours; etc?

you need to look at my links. They have tools to help you set constraints and automate scheduling.

We are 24/7. 3 different shifts with different requirements for man hours per day per shift time. Its really goofy and stupid.

We're the same way. Heavy staff from 7a-8p; then start dropping down to minimal staff.

Give me a list of Employees A through J with skill sets that are required (e.g., Employees A and E have to work nights, Employees B, C, and I have a particular skill set that must always be present, etc.)

My hours can't be right. If you need 6 people for 24 hours a day, that's 1,008 hours per week. I doubt you're doing that with 10 employees.

my assumption was he meant something like 3/2/1 per shift. That's the only way the math works I think.

Currently 3 shifts. There are 10 on days need 6, 9 afternoons need 5 and 8 midnights need 4.
