It's become a way of life. I've been reduced to rooting for a complete flop of Carl Peterson to Herm Edwards to Matt Cassell to Scott Pioli to Romeo in a hope for real substantial positive change. Alex Smith is just the next link in that chain.

Not true.

I'd rather lose with Alex and move on quickly for the search for that guy that's going to be a top 10 QB in the league for the next decade rather than waste 3-4 years spinning our wheels.

This. The reason Alex makes sense to the FO is because they know the window slams shut for guys like Tamba, DJ, Jamaal (and dare I say Bowe) in the next 2-3 years.

Yep and they should have went the rebuild route but after the last few years they needed to put asses back in the seats and regain some repectability.

I disagree there. Clark isn't hurting for money. He's 100% like Lamar: concerned more about attendance than actually winning championships. An owner committed to winning would have gone out and and admitted the previous regime as a failure and the new hires in the FO will need some time to rebuild the roster the right way with a true franchise QB and solid role players and this could take 2-3 seasons to do.

Buying lottery tickets is also known as the investment strategy for complete idiots. But at least you've made it easy for the rest of us to understand where you are coming from. You apply the same level of intelligence to building an NFL roster as you do to investing. No risk is too great because there is always that 1 in 64 million chance that you'll hit.

There were about 7 or 8 QB's drafted in the 4th round or higher. 2 or 3 likely can be just as good and/or better than Alice. I'll take my 25% chance rather then trot out known shit. l'll take my strategy you can have your "risk adverse" way Scott.

I wasn't a fan of the Smith trade and I'm still not but damn if this place isn't quickly turning me into a big time fan of his.

I don't think I've ever wanted to see a player do so well, for obvious reasons, and to see the meltdown on here.

That's a pretty overblown comment by The Bad Guy. Weird because he's normally a poster who chooses his words very carefully and rarely resorts to hyperbole.

If Alex actually is the solution to our QB woes, there's no ****ing way there's a meltdown. You might have reeruns saying "Huhr I told you we'd get one of these QB trades right some day!" but the amount of shit slinging won't even register a measured blip in comparison to what's been going ever since Trent Green got his brains scrambled.
