T.Y Hilton signs for $65 mill

Quote:
ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Colts agreed to a contract extension with fourth-year receiver T.Y. Hilton on Thursday.

The deal is for five years and is worth $65 million -- $39 million of which is guaranteed, agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed.

Hilton's $39 million guaranteed is nearly twice as much guaranteed money as any other player on the Colts roster. Quarterback Andrew Luck is second on the team in that category at $22.1 million, according to the Roster Management System.

"(The Colts) showed interest that they wanted me and I also wanted to be here," Hilton said Thursday. "There's no place I rather be than here. This organization is great. I love being here.

"I didn't want to go into the season with it on my mind. I'm ready to play. (Go) to practice and give it my all."

Hilton, who is part of a talented 2012 draft class by the Colts, is coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance after posting 82 receptions for 1,345 yards last season.

Makes you appreciate the job Dorsey is doing.
They're repeating the Manning era... which isn't to say it's a bad thing, but I don't know if the results can be different with all that money on offense.

This year, I think Luck's salary is $3.6M ... 2016, there's a 5th year rookie option paying him $16M. Still underpaid.

Luck will sign the biggest QB contract within the next year.

I live in Indy. People here are blissfully ignorant. They conveniently forget the season before Luck when Manning was injured and they went 1-15 (or 2-14, I can't remember). It exposed the lack of talent on the roster and showed just how dependent their success was on Manning.

Is their roster that much better today? I'd argue no. They are deeper at the receiver and TE positions, but they didn't exactly have chopped liver before. Their defense is void of the pass rushers (Mathis is older and Freeney is gone)and their O-line and RB situation is so-so (although I think Gore is a good addition).

Absent Luck, this isn't a 5 win team. I wish the Chiefs would some day realize this and at least take the chance to get a 'franchise' type guy.

If you look back at the quote from the owner as to why they were making the move and what the team was with Manning (stats prolific) compared to where they said they wanted to go with more balance... they're repeating history. Again, not saying it's bad... just saying, they're doing the same thing.

Sadly, as a Colts fan, I cannot disagree with any of this. I'm not sold on Pagano as a coach but sadly, Lucks talent will carry them to at least 10 wins yearly which precludes him getting fired.

Luck reminds me a lot of Rapistburger, but smarter and more mobile. He squeezes every last second out of his drops. It's a big reason he takes so many hits. Well, that and the ole! offensive line. They have one good player(Castonzo), one inconsistent youngster(Holmes), two washed up veterans(Louis,Herremans) and a 2nd year guy at rt who's never played there in the NFL(Mewhort).

Impossible. I've heard from Sandy Cheeks that their offensive line and WRs have been awesome during Luck's time there.

Indy is a very flawed team. That line is awful.
