NFL top 100 players of 2018

I just came across the list. They have done 81-100 so far, and no Chiefs yet. Donks and Faiders have one each with Harris Jr at 86 and Bruce Irvin at 85. The Packers already have 4 on the list. Noteables are JJ Watt at 84. Apparently his injuries have the voters scared because he should be much higher than that. Grappalo made the list at 90. I don't think that he's played enough to be on that list just yet. I seriously doubt that we see Mahomes on the list, and I don't think that we should. He may have a top 10 year, but after one regular season game, I just wouldn't put him in there. I think that we should see Watkins, Hill, Kelce, and Hunt on the list. I'm not sure if Berry will be there coming off of injury. If Watt only came in at 84, what will they do with Berry? Will Chris Jones make the list? Here's a link if you want to see the list.

I think Houston has to make it but at this point it’s getting tough to see.

He'd better. But remember that Kamara gained almost 800 yards rushing and was the offensive rookie of the year. I'm worried about them holding spots for two rookie running backs.

Houston won't make it.

The average Joe only cares about sacks. Look how undervalued Houston is on this very board. People outside of KC really don't think about him.

He probably had the quietest 20+ sack season in history.

Yeah, I think Houston is the same player he was pre-injury and he's great in all three phases of linebacking, but he wasn't a 'splash play' kind of guy this past year. I don't see him making the list in the top 40. I hope I'm surprised.

Hell, Houston only ranked 27th the season that he did have 22 sacks. What a joke that was.

JJ Watt has been on this list the last 2 years despite having 1.5 sacks in that timeframe.

It’s all based on popularity.

Can you imagine if Watt was a Chief? Shit some of you guys give Houston a hard time and call him a broken down brokedick even though he was healthy all last year and had 9.5 sacks.

Watt has played in 8 of his last 32 possible games and has done nothing. He looks finished.

Watt probably is finished as an elite player. The injuries have been too severe, specifically the back, to be the same guy he was again. It showed last year before his knee fracture.

This list is supposedly based on football player opinions, and I think it shows that they're the same way. They overvalue sacks over good overall play.

If you look at Houston, it's clear that he's better against the run and against the pass than is that murdering Denver linebacker, and his pass rush is equivalent despite doing other work. But I'm guessing that the murderer in the pedophile glasses will be on the list.

The obvious big elephant in the room regarding Houston is the argument of production vs. contract.

You can say that Houston's game is much more than just sacking the QB. I get that. He's a solid run defender.

But the guy got paid because he sacked the QB 22 times. 9.5 sacks doesn't get Houston that $100M contract. For that money you should be a 15+ sack guy. So you can't expect people not to be discouraged and pissed off when Houston is costing the Chiefs a shit ton in cap space, and they can't move him, we just have to sit here and watch the slow death of a once dominating pass rusher.

Is Houston playing worthy of his contract at the moment? Well of course not. If he has a 2014-ish year will I change my mind? Absolutely...I just doubt that happens. For the Chiefs sake I hope it does, because that's the only way the D is going to be respectful.

Houston only rushed the passer on around 75% of the snaps last year, maybe less IIRC. Most of the star edge rushers are up at 90+%.

9.5 sacks last year in 15 games was pretty damn salty considering that. Miller and Mack barely had more and they played 16 games while rushing the passer over 90% of their snaps.

That has nothing to do with how he played in 2017 and how good of a player he is. Part of the list is production the past year, and part is talent.
