There are much better turfs available than the piece of carpet on concrete. Although I don't know what stadiums are actually using these days.

I wonder if you could cut down on injuries by using one of the "natural" turfs and then restricting the size and type of cleats. Players wouldn't be able to cut as hard, but it would be true for everyone.

It's when turf grabs and then bunches is what causes the most significant injury related to turf..hence "turf toe." However, there are many more related injuries that recieve just as much attention...both knee and hamstring injuries are often attributed to turf.

i can say, as a kid, all the way up to my late 20's, i ran around on nothing but natural grass. rain, snow, or shine, and never tore an acl, an achilles, a hamstring, twisted an ankle or two, but was never bothered.

no i cannot say synthetic turf is worse, but i would be hard pressed to find something other than a natural running surface that is better than nature.

i think 2 million different animal species would agree.

The turf is no excuse for losing. The Chiefs played on the same turf.
