Stephen Hawking, the brightest star in the firmament of science, whose insights shaped modern cosmology and inspired global audiences in the millions, has died aged 76.

His family released a statement in the early hours of Wednesday morning confirming his death.

Hawking’s children, Lucy, Robert and Tim said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.

“He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years.

“His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world.

I knew of the statue of him sitting in a wheel chair at his memorial, wasn't sure where the chair was. It isn't something that comes up in conversation on a daily basis.

Once again,, a man who never really wanted to be seen in a wheel chair having a bronze statue of him in a wheelchair funded by disabled people on public display. Something tells me that he might disapprove.

I do know some make believe deity that came from nothing made something from nothing. Throughout history there have been 100’s of gods and goddesses. They have all been proved to be bullshit, so what makes you really think the religion you have chosen is the one who has the real god after all others have been proven fake
