Salary Cap Question - Move Coming?

Anyone have an idea of how much cap space we had going into the weekend?

There's some speculation on Twitter that according to the NFLPA Report, the Chiefs have somehow lost around $8M in cap space today and are sitting at $3.5M

https://www.nflpa.com/public-salary-cap-report

Would suggest either an extension for someone or potentially a trade, right?

Never tried it and likely never will unless I'm stranded on the Texas llano... but I digress, been reading a western where eating a worn out horse is very common

Until Sutton has officially moved on, just assume we're not moving on... and the speculation about us waiting for a playoff teams DC is a pipe dream IMO

Believe it when you actually see it, until then its looking like they're gonna cut Bad Bob a break

Some of you guys are wanting to gut this already struggling, depth starved defense

Keep Ford on his rookie deal, restructure Bailey > finding better, cheaper replacements all across the defense... this D cant be fixed in one offseason, so why try

Ride the horse until it dies, then eat it
Anticipating a guy with chronic back issues to rack up 10 sacks is very wishful thinking.

As far as I can see based on Houston's usage, they do. That's why they get the big bucks.

This is not happening so you need to get that out of your mind.

But didnt he have those same issues coming out college and still managed those 10 sacks?

Yes, he did

So let him rest up this offseason, and count on $$$ being a revolutionary healing balm... a motivated Ford might even be worth 13-15 sacks instead of 10

For just 2018, his known is better than the bevy of high priced unknowns

But for the sake of argument, who is the FA or rookie who can come in and get 10 or more for a lesser price? See, its not so easy to pinpoint that guy... so just let this guy go earn his supposed big payday and hope for the best

If he sucks, or is still hanging around the middle... cut him loose with no regrets

Same? No, not really. With wear and tear, weight gain, age, etc. back problems get worse.

afaik he's missed games every season over them and I can't see why 2018 will be different, or how he's going to parlay anything into a monster year. Gambling and busting is a waste of 9 mil in cap space that they could really use.

Regardless of whether there is scheme change, we need to make significant changes. We've got a few guys 1 foot into retirement, free agents at key positions like nose tackle, and several bubble players who we have to decide this year or next if they're worth keeping or extending. Parker, Bailey, Ford. That's not even getting into if we can afford to keep peters.

It'll be interesting to see what Veach decides to do, and you may be right... putting him on the shelf when they did may be a sign they're ready to move on

We'll find out soon enough

Yes we will.

It might actually be advantageous to cut bait on him now if they feel good about Kpass or draft options.

Probability is pretty high some team will give him a sizable deal anyhow if the Lions and Cowboys lockdown their edge rushers (they will). Dee Ford would be king of a bad edge market, so teams will be tempted to overpay.

If that's the case, then just trade him.
