Who sues the NFL or the Rams if Sams is cut?

You know its going to happen. If they cut him someone including MU fans will be grabbing their Rainbow tourches and firing up a lawsuit.

So who do you think will sue first? And where will ESPN fall into all of this? Will ESPN weep or call for an recount? Will they remove shower cam?

inquiring minds what to know....

Either way, I could see us giving him a shot if he didn't make the rams roster, but it would be an outside shot and he'd have to challenge one of the OLB depth guys because I don't see him taking a DE spot from us unless Catapano ends up with Ebola.
Sam was terrible everywhere except for LDE when playing for the Rams. That's a big reason why they are keeping Westbrooks, a UDFA from a D3 school, over Sam.

If he's a real football player then theres no reason he cant play ST's and play it well.

He wouldnt be a good fit here though, at 260 he's way too small for DE (although that might be fixable) and I dont think he really has the athleticism for OLB... he belongs on a 4-3 team that wants a situational pass rushing end.
I still think he could be converted to a 3-4 thumper at ILB, call me crazy, but I've seen more done with less.

And we'll see how the cards fall at the end of the year with that call.

Thats an interesting idea, I wouldnt dismiss it right off the bat.

At any rate, I do think he's shown enough so far to deserve more chances.

You would spend a roster spot on someone who isn't athletic enough for special teams, isn't versatile enough to line up anywhere except for LDE, and has only applied pressure exclusively against back-up to PS level RTs?

I disagree with that. I think he's shown enough, from what I've seen, to stay on a 53 man roster if he plays special teams, because at this point, you'd have to. At worst he's a psquad guy, but I really, really think if he somehow gets cut, he's going to be converted to a 3-4 base thumper and see probably 35-40% of the snaps while he works on becoming a special teamer.

For some reason Sam Reminds me of Jovan Belcher, a guy who I loved (on the field). Didn't have measurables, but had intangibles, and he played with a lot of heart and just plugged away at the game. Personally, I just never saw Sam as a "Pass Rush" guy, even when he was in college. He looked like a run stopper either in a 4-3 DE mold or a 3-4 thumper.

That being said, back to the Rams for a second.

If I'm their Front Office and just had my Franchise QB go down for the year before its even started, and I know I'm on borrowed time, I'm going to cut the roster down to 54 people today, and leave that one last spot a question mark until the last minute, and I"m not cutting Sam. I'm going to make it very public through social media that Sam was still safe when everyone went to bed tonight, and have the fans biting nails waiting to see who that 53rd man is.

From there, I wait until the last minute tomorrow and announce that Sam has made the team as the 53rd man, and then throughout the year as things progress, I start a small fandom movement called "the 53rd man", with the emphasis of a man beating the odds as a 7th round draft pick and working his way up in the world.

The fans will eat that shit up for months and maintain ticket sales and prices until the team hits their 6th loss.

The best comp for Sam isn't Jovan Belcher,IMO. If he hits his ceiling, he's Wallace Gilberry. An undersized pass rushing specialist that can play RDE/LDE or kick inside in a nickel sub-package and get pressure on the QB.

It's nice seeing posts from people like Hamas who have actually watched him play. Spot on. He definitely has a place as a situational pass rusher in this league.

A situational pass rusher has to play special teams to stick. Sam didn't.

I think he'll make a practice squad on potential, but the more I think about it if he isn't a special teams beast he's taking a spot from someone who contributes there as a backup.

Told you guys that Sam wasn't going to make it. Sure he made a couple of plays against back-up scrub RTs, but he has absolutely no position versatility. Nowhere near athletic enough to stand up for the LB role, nowhere near explosive enough to rush effectively in a wide-9, nowhere near strong enough to be a good interior pass rusher, and he wasn't even athletic enough to be used in kick coverage. It's hilarious how much people are harping for this guy when, in reality, he's a mediocre talent, at best, who is a one-trick pony.
