"The devastated vicar whose wife ran off with TV’s Robson Green says he hopes the couple will have a good life together and that he has to forgive his estranged missus.

Reverend Geoffrey Short, below, said after holding a service at his church his faith had been strengthened after wife Zoila, 43, left him to live with the popular actor.

But he added Green was “haunting” him and “taking over” his life.

He told the Daily Mirror: “Now is the time for us all to get on with our lives. I have drawn, from the people at the church, a great deal of healing and peace.

“These people have been absolutely wonderful. I have taken comfort in my faith. I hope Robson Green and Zoila have a good life together.”

How Randy Robson Green steals women on his sextreme fishing expeditions

Filipina Zoila, 43, is the THIRD woman the fishing-mad star has reeled in from another man — including netting one of Simon Cowell’s former lovers.

Much like the aquatic prey he so enthusiastically hunts on his Channel Five series Extreme Fishing, the Geordie star is a creature of habit.

One telly source said last night: “Robson loves a challenge — he is an adrenalin junkie. He’s done it before and here we go again.”

Ex-Emmerdale actor Ian Sharrock knows how dangerous it is to let the roguish actor meet your wife.

The friends co-starred in a play in 1994, while Green was just finding fame in Casualty and married to occupational therapist Alison Ogilvie.

Ian’s wife Pamela McDonald travelled to see the play at the Edinburgh Festival and was immediately drawn to its handsome leading man.

Pam said: “We all used to go out clubbing. Ian is not a dancer but Robson loved it, so we would dance all the time and Ian would hang around drinking with his pals.

“It was a great buzz because everywhere we went people would recognise him. We all had a lot of fun.

“The whole cast was sharing a massive flat and Robson and I would end up talking until 5am.

“The more you get to know Robson the more attractive he is because he is so funny and such good company.”

Several weeks later, public relations executive Pam, who was having marriage problems, fled to Germany to stay with a female friend who was filming the ITV army series Soldier, Soldier — also starring Green.

Green and Pam had a drunken one-night stand which turned into a four-year affair, during which they allegedly enjoyed five-hour romps.

She said: “It wasn’t a love affair because we were not in love. It was a four-year period where, if he was in the same place as me, we would have sex. We both thought it was no threat to each other’s marriage. I think it could have gone on for ever.”

But the affair was exposed in a national newspaper in 1999, prompting the collapse of Green’s eight-year marriage to Alison. It was already under pressure thanks to a fling he had with Jenni White, an extra in Soldier, Soldier.

Pam claimed the scandal made Green “loathe and detest” her. Green ended up in counselling, which seemed to cure him of any guilt.

He said: “I saw this incredible therapist who allowed me to talk things through. I came away with genuine peace of mind.”

Green may have felt better but he had not seen the error of his ways. Soon he was eyeing up someone else who was already taken.

Vanya Seagar, a former Page 3 girl, was dating his friend Simon Cowell, who described her as “the most beautiful woman in the world”.

It was Cowell who had propelled Green, and his Soldier, Soldier co-star Jerome Flynn, to worldwide fame when he gave them a record deal.

Their cover of Unchained Melody topped the charts for seven weeks and was the biggest-selling single of 1995. Author Tom Bower, in his biography of Cowell, says the music mogul started seeing Hong Kong-born Vanya in the late 1980s. Bower claims it was an on-off relationship and that Cowell complained to colleagues: “She’s too possessive, she’s driving me nuts.”
But he was still horrified to discover his girlfriend and personal assistant was secretly seeing Green.

Cowell only found out when Vanya failed to turn up for work one day because she was PREGNANT and engaged to marry the actor.

Sunday school teacher Zoila fell for Green after meeting him at a gym in Newcastle.

She has now abandoned her husband and their two children, aged 20 and 16, to move in with the telly favourite.

Rev Short said: “I knew he was a member at the gym but I had no idea there was a friendship.

“Months and months ago she asked me, ‘Do you know someone called Robson Green? He goes to the gym’. I just replied, ‘Yes, he’s an actor,’ and she said, ‘Oh’.”

The Rev Short said he thought he and his wife had a wonderful life until she dropped the bombshell that she was leaving him for Green.
