/And yes His name and the book RailSea are a tribute to Melville and Moby Dick. He has another book that kinda has hunting a giant whale in it too The Scar
I've read PSS and Kraken. I always enjoy his stuff and will probably get around to going through all of it one of these days.

This is a must-read for any Star Wars fan. It's basically a western set on Tatooine with Obi-Wan as the lone wanderer. It's absolutely spellbinding.

Let me tell you, this book has moved me. I tear up literally every time i read it now as we get closer to the ending, as it unfolds the life and story of a true American Hero. Typically one for strictly self-help/business type books, I couldn't have spent any better time then reading this recount of a true warrior and hero.

Highly encourage you to pick this one up. You won't be the same man when you put it back down.

I will check into that one thanks for the tip.

I just finished "Bluebeard" by Vonnegut.

Bluebeard was my fourth Vonnegut novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed each of them. His satirical voice is unrivaled.

Just added four new great looking books to my library thanks to the local Carnegie Endowment library, they throw out all kinds of books every month to make room for the new and I scour that mfer each time, I've probably added 40% to my personal library this way.

No fiction, thank you, real people and places only, cant wait to dig in, I AM a reader, no lie I swear...

War Letters - Andrew Carroll, speaks for itself I would think.

American Caesar - William Manchester, about Douglas MacArthur, you know this one will be good.

About Face - Col. David Hackworth, borrowed this from a work buddy three years ago and it will be just as fascinating again soon enough... tales of chinese and north koreans swarming down the passes like ants right on through Vietnam. This man was a BOSS... he'd teach you how to kill a man, make love to your wife and scold a child all at once.

And finally, The Evolution of Weapons and Warfare - Col. TN Dupuy

Just started King's newest "Doctor Sleep" which is a sequel to "The Shining" (which I just re-read for the occasion). Kind of ho-hum so far.

Just finished Joyland by Stephen King. One of the best reads I've had in awhile. Finished it in only a couple of days, but I would recommend it to any King fans.

I'm not liking the bad guys in this one so far. They, and their "powers", seem kind of silly, which drains the tension out of the book. The parts about Danny trying to get his shit together is pretty good.

A couple of weeks ago at Barnes and Noble I bought a Robert Crais book for $6 just for grins and because it was cheap. It was the latest in the Joe Pike series "The Sentry" about two private investigators in LA. There is another series by him with the other PI Elvis Cole. He has been writing them since 1995 and I just found them. In the last two weeks I have read 11 more books about these PIs. Not high brow but entertaining. Retirement is great
