But contract wise, they weren't working. If you NEED to cut talented players just to sign your rookies, then something's going wrong. What if Mahomes turns out to be the real deal and we can't afford him in a few years because of cap trouble?

That's not how management works. He did one thing well, scout players. Nobody but the owner can just do whatever they want. He Alain fogged up our cap bad.

I agree to that only to the extent if you have an employee who is not very good at anything, than you hag on the other details. Now is you have someone who is exceptional at a key thing that is hard to find, you find other ways to take care of the other details and retain the talent. Now if he really was not as good as many of us think on acquiring talent then that changes things. But if true, management is about assembling and managing talent that puts you in the best position for success. Nobody would question a acquiring talent is among the top 3. If you have a need for the contracts and cap management reassign or go outside the organization. Not that hard IMO.

Then everyone should question Chunt's management ability because he couldn't communicate with John Dorsey about the changes he wanted to be made. By all accounts, Dorsey is an intelligent guy with talent. Apparently, Hunt couldn't make it work with intelligent, talented guy. I guess money was the deal breaker, Hunt didn't have a problem with Pioli having all sorts of communication problems because he always kept the price low and profits high.

Interesting. Hunt seemed to have no problem with Pioli's tyrannical leadership style. His results, on the other hand...were problematic.
I still can't figure this whole thing out...at the end of the day, Hunt and Reid had to view Dorsey as easily replaceable. Time will tell. |

Clark Hunt hired the best GM candidate in 2009 but it didn't work out. He hired the best available coach and hired a highly regarded personnel man in Dorsey in 2013. That trajectory isn't over. Shut the **** up. |

I don't blame Hunt for hiring Pioli and give him credit for cutting him loose. Dorsey wasn't bad and he wasn't mediocre. The organization was functioning well and Hunt though so in January (firing season) and May (franchise defining draft deal). No new info has has emerged since then that would upset this evaluation. Hunt has not presented a viable reason for cutting Dorsey loose given his inaction this off season.
