Well, how would you break it down?

Not sure that didn't play a big role in our "dominance", but it was refreshing to see. It's something I believe teams need to work on before the regular season.
I think we see teams do more in preseason in the last 5 years or so than we ever saw in the years before.

I also think that teams that are waiting for the regular season to install more complex concepts into their game packages are either veteran teams that have done it all before, or young teams that end up struggling to start the season because they haven't gotten the game work they need to be prepared for the new packages.

Eight throws in a preseason game should be plenty of time for him to make that happen. There's no need for us to factor in that Matt Cassel is on his 4th ****ing year as the starting QB of this team and has yet to elevate jack shit within the Chiefs organization.

Hell, I doubt he could elevate the team if he put them all on the elevator to the top of the Burj Khalif and wallpapered the inside of the car with raunchy porn.

How many plays in one game does Stanzi have to play in order to evaluate him in that one game?

I'm not referring to Direct TV or local games, I'm referring to the NFL's own package in which they charge $19.99.

There should be some sort of thread or sticky because most people don't seem to realize it exists.

Look, I'm not a Captain America "fan" but I think the guy needs at least 15 minutes with the first teamers and at least 15 minutes with the second teamers, during the same game, in order to properly evaluate him.

I'll give my brief thoughts on our first game, as I've only seen it twice and really only looked at the QBs and our defense.

Cassel looked sharp. Actually had touch on the ball, which he has never really displayed here in KC. His hot throw to Hillis against an overload on the right side and a free rusher to the left (Acho I believe) was soft and hit him in stride. That rarely happens. He looked solid on his drops and had a nice corner throw to Mcbuster. I didn't see him read the whole field, but he didn't really have to with Horton's D. The Pitt fire-zone scheme usually frees up a guy and Cassel usually went to it. The pass to Jamal was horrible. He still fails to load up screens and deliver touch passes to the back receiving them.

Quinn looked sharper than anticipated. Didn't have any wow throws but seemed to be an adequate backup.

Stanzi looked good, despite the 2-7. His pass to Maneri was money. Looked a little uncomfortable at times in the pocket, but its to be expected playing with the 3s. Honestly, I'm excited to see him work with the 2s this weekend.

Overall, our QBs looked loads better than they did in training camp. I'm not sure if that is because our d is going to rape people, but they looked more relaxed in the pocket, looked downfield, and seemed much better. The last 2 weeks they looked bad at training camp IMO. Big change from then to their first game.

This. Let's see the rest of the preseason before buying Chiefs SB tickets.

My DVR did not record the last 5 or 6 minutes of the game. But unless in that time Stanzi really stunk up the place from what I got to see Stanzi looked a lot better than Quinn. Especially factoring in the level of talent around them.

In the end, if he'd gone 24-for-24, or 0-for-24, in preseason game #1, it wouldn't have been a definitive career evaluation. It's only one game, but he did play enough for people to evaluate that one game. That's all I'm saying.

The Canton thing doesn't matter. They weren't traveling for more than a week. That's an excuse the Cards should use for how much they suck. In reality there's no excuses. We played well and they didn't. I'd like to think we played a big part in that not some poor excuse.

Not really. He entered the game with the Chiefs controlling it from start to finish. Both teams had scrimmaged earlier in the week and there is respect between both coaching staffs. There was no reason for Stanzi to put the ball in the air 15 times and find a groove.

Watching it again. Cassel's mechanics are a lot better. His release is more compact and fluid. He keeps the bottom nose of the football above his waist now in his throwing motion. He gets it out a lot faster.

Hopefully Cassels' problems have largely been coaching. I tend to think there's a degree of truth to that, because Weis had him playing pretty good.
