*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

The chain is generally long enough that the weight won't reach up to your crotchal region. Also, you can kind of gently squeeze the plate between your knees or legs to steady it a bit.

Also, the chain will kind of spread apart and make a sort of valley that goes around your nadulars.

Don't worry, I've never once been mashed.

Be aware that the chain will "eat" your shirt and make a little hole if you aren't careful. You'll see what I mean when you get one - it happens up at the area where the chain attaches to the belt. I've also pinched my hand in there a few times.

I've messed up a couple of favorite tees like that and had to retire them to pure gym useage.

Updated picture. Still have the tummy bulge. And I'm still insecure about my arm fat. You can almost see a little tone in the top of my arm. I'm getting there. You can see why I don't want to do bikini though. I just want to lift heavy things!

Just keep going. Remember that burning fat is like melting snow: the thickest areas will hang on and melt last.

The heavy lifting will help with the fat though - it takes a lot of calories to maintain muscle. Also, it will look fantastic once you remove the last remnants of flab.

My specs? - I suck now...seriously. I'm 6'2", 200lbs and not especially lean. If you saw me in real life you'd just say "oh, there's a tall skinny guy."

I was really big into it when I was in college. Work has caused me to be not as motivated anymore and I'm not disciplined with my diet.

Silly question but what's the difference between eating chicken and brown rice if you stay under 2,000 calories and hamburgers and french fries as long as it's under 2,000 daily calories?

What's the easiest difference? The amount of fat.

I'm not the best one to talk to about nutrition on here. But I'm sure yeah....you could lose weight on it. The only difference is that eating fast food like hamburgers and fries is going to limit what else you can eat to stay under the 2000 calorie limit.

The difference is it's a lot harder to do the latter.

**** man I went to Taco Bell the other day, and just one burrito off their dollar menu had 440 calories. Jeez.

The amount of food per calorie. Some people have problems eating small amounts of food so may feel deprived. Lower fat foods can give you a lot more bulk.

Burgers and fries taste better, tho
