Graphic Novels; Where to Start
So I've never been I to comics (except a brief stint with GI Joe comics when I was young, and am interested in purchasing some graphic novels to get me into the genre.
I'm planning to get Dark Knight Returns, as I hear that's the best, but for you afficianodos, where would you start?

You should pick up the trade paperbacks for Saga and the Matt Fraction run of Hawkeye that just wrapped up. These two got be back into comics, and i've gone deep into the rabbit hole.

There was a recent set set in the Prometheus, Alien, Predator universe called Fire and Stone which was great.

You should also read Man Out of Time (Captain America) that's written by Brubaker.

If you don't mind spending a bit of coin, you can subscribe to Marvel Unlimited. It's like $70 for a year and you get access online of thousands of Marvel comics and most all of the big Marvel comic events are on there (Civil War, Infinity Gauntlet, Annihilation, etc). You can read them on your computer or pretty much any tablet.
