The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively DONE

The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

That is what Baalke has done. Thats what Belichick does. Thats what Jimmy Johnson did. Thats what Bill Walsh did.

Little known fact: The 49ers were attempting to move down to the 9th, 10th, or 11th pick to take Aldon Smith so they could get the same player and accumulate more picks because they knew the other teams wouldn't take him. They couldn't get a deal so took him at 7.

If the Chiefs were really smart they could trade out of the top pick and try to land Geno where they think he might be projected to go and pick up alot more picks to fill more holes. The CBA makes that trade much easier than it used to be.

The draft is an art. Panicking and taking guys way above where they should be picked is an Al Davis move.

By all means Frankie, please explain to me WHO the chiefs are going to trade down with, and WHY would a team want to trade up with them?

Hrmmm?

I don't think you can ever go wrong drafting O-Linemen high.
Did you or the radio show ever realize that we gave Eric Winston a big contract to be our RT last year? You are getting closer to actually knowing what positions on the OL are a need. We don't need help at LT or RT. Should we move Brandon Albert to QB so we have room to take a LT at 1.1?

These are the things you are failing to realize marvin.

1. The chiefs have done it for 30 years your way and gotten no where.

2. You opinion of alex smith is obviously biased. people have disproven him being anythjng other than a game manager and you fail to realize thay u need more than that in this league now days.

3. You suggest we not take Geno yet havnt come up with any viable replacement. All you have said is draft a lt.

4. We already have book ends at both lt and rt- so any suggestion of drafting a lt is just stupid.

All up you are looking like a massive niners homer at best. weve seen ur kind before. All gungho about how ur brand of building a team is best yet u fail to realize ur the exception not.the norm

This argument is only valid if there were Geno, a lot of daylight, and the next best QB. IMO there's not that much daylight between him and the next guy. I bet Reid and Dorsey think so too.

I never professed to be an expert on the Chiefs. I'm speaking from the perspective of a guy who thinks its foolish to reach at any position.

Wow....I thought Seattle had an angry fanbase. This place takes the cake...LOL.

Depending on the value we give up, it might not be a bad alternative.

Projecting there, but ok.

Even if there isn't a gap between Geno and number 2 as you say, by the time we pick again, it will be the gap between Geno and likely number 4.

So if they do take Geno at 1, are they idiots in your opinion?

Tell us... what position and player wouldn't be a reach at #1 overall in this year's draft?

Jeez...

What's with all the venom man? I'm just a fellow football fan giving my opinion. I got nothing against the Chiefs...in fact I have a special hatred in my heart for all things Silver and Black so I really kinda root for KC every year.

I'm not your opponent here.

I'm just saying that I don't think you should reach for a QB. I think most people who fallow the draft would tell you the exact same thing.

I won't be a fan anymore so I don't have to prep for anything.
