Not really a movie - but Torchwood; Miracle Day. It's a British tv series that started out with Torchwood seasons 1 & 2 and continued with the best of the group in Torchwood; Children of Men. Probably not for everyone but it's one of my favorite si-fi series. Take it for what it's worth - I also love Lost Girl on the si-fi channel.

They are a little older and more in the dark fantasy genre (but people are including "Pan's Labyrinth" so figure it's okay) but I really liked "Night Watch" and the sequel "Day Watch". They are Russian films that came out in '04 and '06. Pretty bizarre but an entertaining ride.

How come almost all of the space Sci-fi movies end the same? Big battle of my species versus yours. Same with Prometheus. Cool from beginning to middle but ending was same old crap of brainless chase scenes until everyone gets blown up.
