Sandy's kick-ass full Draft Mock 2016 !!!

DRAFT PICKS:

With the #28 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

CB / Mackensie Alexander / Clemson

It's always fortunate when positional need and top value merge in any draft round, and this is what I feel happened for KC with Mack Alexander available here. The Chiefs have an excellent duo of CBs in Marcus Peters and Phillip Gaines.. but Sean Smith departed in FA.. and Gaines is returning from an early injury last season. Adding CB talent outside of those top two was a large priority need. Alexander is a heck of a man cover corner, so he is an ideal fit in Bob Sutton's scheme.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the #59 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

CB / Artie Burns / Miami

KC double dips on CB here, after selecting Mack Alexander in rd 1. I had Burns in my top 10 of targets for a while now, and feel pretty good about snatching him up here. As said, the quality behind starters Marcus Peters and Phillip Gaines was lacking. Now with these two additions, DB coaches Emmitt Thomas and Al Harris will be smiling ear to ear while working with this foursome of young talent.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the #112 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

DL / Maliek Collins / Nebraska

Although KC is set with their excellent trio of starters in Poe, Howard, and Bailey, it is important to add more quality depth for the future. Maliek Collins has excellent movement skills and physicality. He is stout and powerful, yet has long arms. He was heavily double teamed in 2015.. which explains the drop in production.. and if that's what it takes to stop him on this KC defense? Sign me up.. let the opposition take their chances on others not making the impact plays versus single blocks. Maliek's skills can keep him on the field in the often used Nickel defense.. particularly to spell Poe or Howard. This addition also gives the Chiefs some insurance, in case of injury along the line.. as well as any potential trouble in signing Poe when his contract runs out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the #126 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

WR / Jordan Payton / UCLA

With another offseason under their belts, the Chiefs current WRs may just be enough to get the team well beyond a single playoff win. Maclin has been the miracle #1 they needed, but there can be no guarantees that Chris Conley, Albert Wilson, Rod Streater, or De'Anthony Thomas will take a strong step towards locking down a majority of snaps. Jordan Payton is, imho, the most underrated WR in this class. He has good size and length.. has enough speed and quickness to threaten defenses.. and is an ideal run blocker. Payton is top 10 in not letting catchable passes hit the ground, and can go up in tight coverage to pluck the ball away. He may not be the swing-for-the-fences prospect that some covet, perhaps, but he has a very high chance of becoming a solid #2 at the next level.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the #159 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

QB / Kevin Hogan / Stanford

To add competition to backup QBs Aaron Murray and Tyler Bray, the Chiefs elect to send the card for Hogan in here. Kevin Hogan has experience, athleticism, and a strong arm. He has intelligence, comes from a pro-style scheme, and plays a careful brand of ball within his current limitations. The coaches will need to work on his delivery and mechanics.. but there will be plenty of time to improve on the weaknesses.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the #242 overall selection.. in the 2016 NFL Draft...

The Kansas City Chiefs select...

OT / Caleb Benenoch / UCLA

There are quite a few bodies with potential backing up OT starters Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, yet I'll add another talented option to battle it out for a roster spot. Caleb is easily the highest value on my board. He has experience at OT or OG, though his athleticism should get him strong opportunities at OT first. He will need to get stronger, but his lateral quickness is a great fit for the healthy mix of zone blocking that the Chiefs utilize.

TRADES:
KC trades RB Spencer Ware + pick #203 traded to Redskins for pick #120 + #242
KC trades #120 + #162 to the Saints for pick #112
KC trades #165 + #249 to the Ravens for pick #159

And I don't know if you've heard but the Titans and Browns don't have # 1 and 2 anymore.

Yes, well aware. This group mock progressed prior to the trades.

I like Ware just fine, but we really don't need him. To get a 4th and 7th for him was imo good value, and made the draft process more fun.

Unfortunate that you only focus on a couple of negatives. Left to guess you liked nothing about it then.

I love your first pick. Alexander is the best CB in the draft. I also like Burns, but I don't think we need to take two CBs in this draft.

I feel your pain. I was doing my own mock and was on pick #243 when the announcement came in over my phone that the Browns traded out of 2. I'm taking the family to New Orleans this weekend so there will be no 7 rounder from me this year.

FWIW, this is how it shook out for KC:
28: William Jackson, CB Houston
59: Tyler Boyd, WR Pitt
126: Jihad Ward, DE Illinois
162: Alex Redmond, OG UCLA
165: Tavon Young, CB Temple
203: Jarred Norris, ILB Utah
Didn't get to 249, probably would have been either Jamie Byrd, FS South Florida or Deion Bush, FS Miami based on who was left.

Cool. Let's say we draft Alexander in rd 1. Then the depth chart is?

1. Peters
2. Alexander
3. Gaines

4. Nelson
5. Cooper

Now maybe the top 3 stay healthy all year. Maybe Nelson turns out to be something. Do we really want to rely on that? and could we really feel comfortable with the talent in this depth chart?

I can definitely see a reason to not draft a CB in rd 1 and rd 2.. but that's how I felt the value played out in the draft listed in the OP. I was really hoping that Sterling Shepard would have fallen 4 more spots to the KC pick at 59.

Does anyone know or like much about WR Jordan Payton that I drafted in rd 4? I really like him, and think he can be that safe and solid #2 if somehow Conley doesn't step up.

I'd give you solid A grades on WJIII and Boyd. Ward is solid in rd 4. I don't know too much about the next two.. but I like the positions enough. Norris is good value that late.

Well done.

1 2 2 Cleveland QB Carson Wentz North Dakota St
1 12 12 Cleveland RB Ezekiel Elliott Ohio St
3 2 65 Cleveland ILB David Perry Ohio State
4 1 99 Cleveland S KJ Dillon West Virginia
4 40 138 Cleveland WR De'Runnya Wilson
5 2 141 Cleveland DT DJ Reader Clemson
5 35 172 Cleveland WR Cody Core Ole Miss
5 36 173 Cleveland OL Avery Young Auburn
6 1 176 Cleveland LB Jatavis Brown Akron
7 2 223 Cleveland CB Daryl Worley West Virginia

I can't tell you how much I hate this draft. I cringe to think what the Browns gave up to move from 32 to 12 to get Elliot. My favorite pick is probably KJ Dillon at the top of the fourth and that position isn't even one of our top 5 needs. I know this was drafted by another guy, I just wanted to point it out.

Yeah, Browns were being managed by a Steelers fan that lives in Cleveland.

I believe he was really trying to do right by you, but hey... sometimes you strike out.

Yeah I definitely think he was trying... a QB, 2 WRs, a RT, a CB, a safety, and an inside linebacker is a by-the-book draft for the Browns, and the selections are all realistic, I just happen to not like the players he put there. Also, while I like Elliot, I'm not sure that he's worth #32 plus a 1st rounder or plus Joe Thomas or plus Joe Haden, and I have to think that's what the trade was. Thanks for posting the full draft though! Always fun to see what other people come up with.

Maybe you guys should pay less attention ****ing my mom and more to your mock draft because it's one of the worst I've ever seen.
