Its true. I think its called Transpermia if I remember correctly.
Its facinating to read and think about and probably true. We are all Martians, just like we are all Africans.

The idea is that when an asteroid or something hits the planet, sometimes it hits hard enough to knock pieces of the planet out of the atmosphere. And those pieces have microbes and other micro-organisms that live in the little cracks and fissures, which can withstand the heat of the collision and the timeless vacuum of space. And then thousands if not millions of years later, those same rocks, now meteoroids themselves, land on another planet. And those little micro-organisms find themselves on a new planet in which the atmosphere doesn't kill them. Slowly over billions of years, the micro-organisms evolve into stuff.
They thought they found proof of something similar a while back in a martian meteorite. They thought it was a fossil of a martian micro-organism. But it turned out not to be. But the theory is actually sound.

I have to admit, I've been enjoying the heck out of the video and pics taken by Curiosity.

Those little hills on the mountainside imply a lot of erosion, right? I don't think they'd be uplift or volcanic.
I was expecting the thing to be smoother, like spall from a big impact.

It sure looks like it. Wind or water erosion.
