Had someone e-mail me asking if I could believe Gordon "rejected the Royals offer" and asked if I was pissed he is leaving the Royals.
People don't know WTF they are talking about.

And if he wants more than 4 years, even a lifelong Royals fan like myself would be fine with him leaving and we SHOULD NOT resign him for more than 4 years. It makes very little sense in any world.

I'll be pretty down if Gordo goes somewhere else. Hopefully, you can work something out. I think it's just seeing him play in KC for so long.

We all love Alex Gordon. He's the epitome of the whole "process." High promise, disappointment, followed by a crap load of hard work, paying off with a title.

But a team like the Royals has to have its price and not go far above it. There's just little margin for emotional attachment for a team like us. I hope to God he stays with the Royals. But not at all prices.

Where does Gordon play on that team? Schwarber is not a catcher, so they'll just stick him in left and live with his horrible defense. Soler will occupy the other COF spot.

Gordon isn't going to play center at 31/32 years old.

Seems like if the Royals are gonna pick somebody to pay, Gordon would be at the top of the list. He is a workout warrior so the odds of staying healthy would appear to be better than most guys in their 30s. He is strong in all aspects of his game, but not flashy in a way that would require one of the more ridiculous contract numbers. We just paid Alex Rios $11 million for one year. If we were to pay Gordon $18M every year for the next 5 that's a $90M total contract. Add a year or a bit more money if it takes that. Then develop your Right Fielder from within the system.

Schwarber to RF or 1b. Cubs are going to go hard for A1. They are an attractive option for him. If they go 5/105 we have to let him go. Joe Maddon might package him And Zobrist.

It's no different than early this season when the game threads had a lot of people posting I had never seen post in them before. One example is that you would see lots of comments to bring in Herrera in the fifth or sixth inning.

Gordon won't go to the NL since batting 8th means the pitcher will be behind him and he won't have any protection or get good pitches to hit. You have to pitch to Gordon with Rios looming!

I'm probably one of the most ignorant baseball "fans" on this site, so forgive me if this has been posted already or is complete ****ing nonsense.

Gordon has spent the majority of his time and career playing for a shit team. He's not only accomplished his likely ultimate goal of winning a WS but been a key contributor in the actualization of the aforementioned goal.

If he wants to play somewhere else and make as much money as he can, good on him.

Agreed. Gordon going anywhere in the NL does not benefit him. He's sticking the the AL.

The sad part, IMO, is that Royals are owned by a guy with more than $2 billion dollars, yet the idea of paying market value for homegrown players is always in question.
