You think they can teach your defensive minded HC a thing or two about defending the spread? You better hope so, because you won't have any talent to lean on when your recruiting is dead last in the Pac 12.

Ok, a few things:

1. Taking one game and saying that means Anderson doesn't know how to defend the spread is stupid. His teams at Utah State and Wisconsin generally did okay.

2. Our defensive coordinator was the defensive coordinator for Utah the last three years. The Utes' defense was very good over that time.

3. The Beavers weren't dead last in recruiting; Colorado was. The Beavers were dead last in money towards recruiting, though. That has changed. We have a new AD, they just poured a shit ton of money into the facilities, upgraded the stadium and hired a respected coach. Time will tell if that makes recruiting easier (recruiting to Corvallis will never be easy) but it has to help.

4. If you a Nebraska fan and bashing the Beavers' talent level to make yourself feel better about the hire of Riley (and Banker), well, good luck with that.

1. My point is Oregon State isn't much better off with the coach you hired. He's going to be asked to do more with less talent, which sounds like a bad recipe. Wisconsin wasn't great against better talent, as evidenced by the ohio state game.

2. Utah was solid last year. They also had some talent stemming from decent recruiting, though.

3. at not being last. Sorry, you guys were 11th last year and GA has you guys dead last right now. Strong work from him so far. Very encouraging.

4. Just reminding you that an Oregon State fan talking shit about Nebraska is ridiculous, given your current outlook is poor.

I'm not talking shit on Nebraska. I'm talking shit on Banker because he sucks and I'm happy he's somewhere else.

Also, I have never once said OS was better or we were super awesome or something. A small school in a cow town (and no sugar daddy like the Ducks have) is always going to have trouble competing with the big boys. Riley (and Dennis Erikson) get credit for bringing us up out of putridness. Riley was just never able to take the step past "just okay".

By the way, Andersen wasn't brought in until most of the recruiting was already done by Riley and his guys. Most of this class are Riley's guys and for his system. It's too early to say whether Andersen can recruit better or not. I also don't expect that we'll win more than 3-4 games this year because we lost five (possibly 7) players to the NFL (oh, the dearth of talent) including the QB. We will probably be starting a true freshman QB and need to replace most of the defense. It will be another couple of years before I can say whether Andersen is a step up or not. If we are still losing games to the likes of ****ing Eastern Washington, like Riley did last year, at that time, they you will have a valid point.

Andersen will turn the program around and get a job in the NFL just as Riley gets fired. OS rehires Riley for the third time.

I'm not really expecting much out of the Hawkeyes this year. I'm glad they made the switch to Bethard at QB, but this is the first year in a long time that they start a season without their #1 statistical player from the previous season at any position on offense.

I'm ready for the Ferentz era to end.

Andersen is one of the best up and coming coaches in the game...maybe top 10 overall.

I think his buyout is finally affordable and I'd say Iowa can't wait to get out from underneath that shit.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do. I don't expect to see many wins this year but it will still be exciting to see the changes.
