Quarterbackery: Round 1, Heat 11

Today we visit two of Roger Goodell's favorite teams, the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Giants

Eli Manning - 11 seasons, and current starter since he whined and threw a tantrum to leave San Diego.
Phil Simms - 11
Kerry Collins - 5
Fran Tarkenton - 5
Dave Brown - 3
Craig Morton - 3
Danny Kanell - 2
Jeff Hostetler - 2
Scott Brunner - 2
Joe Pisarcik - 2
Norm Snead - 2
Kurt Warner - 1
Gary Wood - 1

They produced 11 pro bowlers, led by Fran Tarkenton and Eli Manning with 4 each, though Manning's should have been earned in San Diego.

Jets

Joe Namath - 9 seasons (led team for 10, but only 9 since 1966)
Ken O'Brien - 7
Richard Todd - 6
Chad Pennington - 5
Mark Sanchez - 4
Vinny Testaverde - 3
Boomer Esiason - 3
Geno Smith - 2
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 1
Brett Favre - 1 (and current starter, for what that's worth)
Brooks Bollinger - 1
Ray Lucas - 1
Neil O'Donnell - 1
Frank Reich - 1
Browning Nagle - 1
Pat Ryan - 1
Matt Robinson - 1
Al Woodall - 1
Bob Davis - 1

They produced 10 pro bowls, led by Joe Namath with 5. (Did you know that Ken O'Brien went to 2 pro bowls? I hate the 1983 draft.)

The Giants have had stability at the QB position, which surprised me to see. I've never thought of them as a team with much talent at QB. Tarkenton was top-notch, and Simms and Manning have been good enough to win with. I guess I would rate this team as somewhat strong.

The Jets have kind of been a mess. Namath was around for a while, but other than an occasional good year by a passing hobo they've been pretty bad. I would rate them as somewhat weak, and maybe they're very weak. However, producing 10 pro bowls isn't horrible.
