Are you installing a flowerbed and some shrubs?

Do you need a sprinkler system installed?

Let's talk about lawns in here.

Yes, and I was two days late this month due to travel. I was most vexed.

I've found that there are definitely diminishing returns the more effort you put into your lawn. Some, but very minimal effort, and your lawn can look pretty decent. Put in twice as much effort as your neighbor, and it only looks about 20% better.

One guy on my block is constantly doing stuff to his lawn. Always spraying shit, putting stuff down...I don't even know what else he could be doing. Every day. And it doesn't look that much better than the folks who do a fraction of the work.

I am hesitant to apply weed killer to my lawn for fear that I would then not have any lawn at all.

Don't care about green grass. It is green in the spring up until about July 1st. It will be brownish the rest of the year, I just have my lawn guy leave it a little longer in July and August so it doesn't burn up. But wasting all this water to have a green lawn seems pointless to me. Honestly, lawns seem pointless to me. I wish I could give mine away. Anybody with an apt or something, that want to have a free garden in exchange for mowing and maintaining my shit, you let me know.

Ortho weed-b-gone will not hurt your grass at all. It does a great job of killing the weeds. Once they are gone the grass will eventually take over and basically prevent weed growth for good.

No sir. Lawns are for guys who want to put on the headphones, jam some tunes while spending time in the yard away from the wife and kids.

On a good day I can spend 5-6 hours mowing, weed eating, edging, etc.

Just bought a house and the seller decided he wasn't going to pay his lawn service to mow the yard as they were leaving. Can't say I would have either, but all it's done for the last six weeks is rain and I bet the yard hadn't been mowed in nearly a month. We got the keys last Saturday and I mowed that bitch on Sunday. The back yard was the worst. Knee high garbage that I had to let the mower chew through while taking breaks in between rain spurts. Rain is so cool!

My yard doesn't look good yet. And there is absolutely no landscaping aside from the seven or so mature trees on the lot. That's my wife's shit. I'll mow and weed eat, but I'm not landscaping.
