According to Albert Breer

NFL owners just passed a targeting rule. I’m told they have not yet defined it for ejections, and the league will work on that and present it at the May meeting. Plays will potentially be reviewable by New York.

Cfb targeting rules are horrendous.

That being said, much as I hate subjective rules, the nfl should explore rules about clear targeting leading to ejection if the targeting knocks the opposing player out to concussion.

You may not like pussifying the game. I don't either. But I'm tired of watching good players get knocked out of games by serial cheap shot artists while the defender gets a slap on the wrist. The game is meant to be played with the best players on the field. If I'm a DC knowing these rules can take out Brady, I'll take the 15 yards and fine every single time.

Yeah, that was a pure target and changed the game. It was bullshit and the NFL knew it, probably one of the main reasons for this rule now.

Oh joy, another subjective rule that will change the outcome of games. Just go back to leather helmets and 1970's rules. Tons of flesh wounds but less permanent brain injuries because nobody in their right mind would lead with their heads using the helmet as a weapon. Ridding the league of fake turf and going back to dirt, grass and sand will also slow the momentum and soften the collusions.

I don't like subjective rules that can be decided based on the point of view from certain referees. This sounds like a rule that is going to piss off a lot of people.
