I was a pessimist. Then Pioli was fired and Cassel was shown the door. Now I'm an optimist. Don't necessarily love some of the moves made so far, but I trust the guys calling the shots. I've spent most of my fandom as an optimist, being the pessimist sucked hard. I just knew in my heart Cassel was a ****ing failure before he ever took a snap. I don't have that sense with Alex Myth, however I know what he is. A stop gap unless he proves otherwise quickly.

I think one of the biggest misnomers about pessimistic, or "realistic" fans, is that they're more knowledgeable about football. Not true. Some of the most idiotic ideas and thoughts have come from the realistic fans. Peterson or SP only care about filling the stadium, not winning. Clark mandates that no QB be drafted in the first round. Things like that come from people that I'm sure consider themselves realists.

I voted pessimist before I even read the thread and your definition fit me to a T.

I voted balanced, but looking over the criteria again, I should be in the pessimist section~

I'm a naysayer about being a homer, but have optimistically balanced pessimism about generic altenate Zresponses.

In my long history of Chief fandom, I've been mostly in the two to three range.
Exceptions: I have been extremely negative about three moves from the outset: 1) Herm Edwards, 2) Matt Cassel, and 3) Alex Smith. I was skeptical about 1) Gunther as HC, 2) the return of Gunther, 3) Greg Robinson and 4) McCluster, but willing to wait to see it play out. The one area that I'm more pessimistic than the average fan on the board is that if I don't see a head coach or QB working out, I'd rather the Chiefs go 0-16 than 8-8. I'm ready to move on, and 8-8 just prolongs the pain. I'm also no longer satisfied by playoff appearances as a measure of success. I need to see the team on a pathway to dominance. As for the up coming season I see a floor of 6 wins and a ceiling of a playoff win, which is more optimistic than many on here. But I'm very unhappy with Alex Smith as a QB, because there is no realistic hope that he will be a dynasty level QB. |

If you get butthurt by pessimism, there are several homer-friendly sites available. Many in fact. Go ahead and rock that Google one time, Lil Chiefy.

Yeah. **** that. I just laugh at the absurdity of the Randy Quaids in a world of Major league.

I then left for a bit and came back and registered in 2003 as Marcellus. Being around here almost from inception I know this isn't a kiddy playground and its not for homers. That being said I also feel a have a right to voice my disgust with vapid turd munchers like yourself. |
