My high school made the BEST french fries I've ever had. I had a friend that ordered two bowls everyday as his lunch. They were regular style, not shoestring or steak fries and completely peeled. I think they fried them in lard.
I think they were .50 a bowl and it was a BIG bowl.

Although this is not a pic from my high school, this is how I remember the Mr. Rib that was served to us. Pretty sad now that I flashback.

In high school we had a food court so I bought lunch every day. We had a choice of: Deli Sandwiches, Pizza, Homestyle (chicken nuggets, steak fingers, etc), World (italian, mexican, etc) , and grill (hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries). The food wasn't all star, but it was ight.
Before they built the food court we could go off campus. Lunch then would typically consist of heading to the small cafe inside the local grocery store, Subway, pizza buffet (Pizza Hut or Mazzio's), Mc Donald's, Braum's, or Golden Fried Chicken.

Our school made a big deal about offering Subway for lunch, but they just brought in a bunch of pre-made "cold cut combos" to sell.
The only other "adult" option was pizza from Little Caesars. Considering those things now cost $5 for a whole pizza and the school was selling slices for $3.50, and it was the only option that tasted like normal food, it must've made the school insane money. All for the low, low price of school-wide obesity.

These still give me nightmares. At least they could have been cooked thoroughly; they were offered for every meal from elementary through high school, and they were never once crunchy.

I used to get four glazed donuts and a large Coke for lunch in high school.

Brought my lunch every day of high school (and summer work at college):
2 sandwiches - 1 lunch meat w/cheese and one peanut butter and jelly 1 sack of chips 1 sack of cookies 1 thermos of iced tea Only real change was after hunting season, for several months I'd be bringing in deer jerky along with the regular meal. Made a nice change-of-pace.

K-12 was all in one building for me (small town). So I ended up eating the same food year in and year out at the same cafeteria. Lived too far away to go home for lunch even in high school so I ate school lunch every day for 12 years. I was never fat, since I know BEP will ask that.
I honestly didn't mind it. Then again, I'm just a hick. |

I saved my lunch money in high school for gas and weed and just ate like 10-15 packs of the free club crackers from the salad bar every day. Occasionally I'd get crazy and put mayo and bacon bits on them.

Just ate whatever they offered. Unless it was gross, then I survived until I got home. Or went to the side kitchen and got Pizza Hut or some sort of Little Debbies with Hawaiian Punch in a can.
Baked potato bar day was the real deal. Other than that, eh. Nothing too exciting. Square pizza was not good, but we all doubled up on that day anyhow. And chocolate milk all day every day. |
