you can use your same logic that the chiefs filled the OG position with Rishaw Johnson (who has gotten a lot of praise) and that linkenbach (who has starting experience).

You're missing my point it's very likely that theres going to be a WR and G at the top of our board for both picks. Those might be the two deepest positions in this draft. And if you really believe need isn't taken into consideration I don't know what to tell you.

And we paid Abduah, Mays and Walker starting money not Linkenbach. I just don't believe they are going to hand it over to Rishaw.

Here is an example: Lets say that these jellybeans represent starting caliber players at various positions. You want to draft a starter from each position group. The wise person would select first from the smallest supply (represented by the green jellybean) and last from the largest supply (purple jellybean). next man up. Rishaw, Rokevious watkins, and Linkenbach will all compete for the spot. "starting money" is irrelevant. The whole point the chiefs (and other team) go nuts for draft picks is so they can fill their roster with players on cheap rookie contracts (the difference in pay between Allen, Hudson, Rishaw, Stephenson, Watkins, and Linkenbach is very small). |

I don't see it that way at all. I believe we will draft either pass rusher or CB in the first. We have made some depth signings on the DL and CB but not at pass rusher.
The WR position doesn't normally have an immediate impact at the NFL level especially when it will be the 4th best talent at the position. I think we can get a very similar player in the 3rd, since it normally takes a couple of years for a rookie WR to have the expected impact on games. Since this draft is deep everywhere you can basically expect 3rd round talent in the 4th and maybe even 5th rounds. That being said I think we will draft our Oline there.

Just because the draft is deep at those positions doesn't mean you wait. For instance we could get a guy with legit #1 WR potential and top 15 talent at the 23rd pick. You can't say that in most drafts. You don't pass up a guy like Cooks who is just as good of a prospect as Tavon Austin at that value. I'd rather cash in early for a guy like Cooks and get my value, but still get one of the drafts top prospects.
Same goes for guard there will likely be an G at out 1st and 3rd round picks that can come in and start right away for us. This is how Dorsey's "moneyball" philosophy works and it's when BPA and need meet. |

When you're applying that to human beings to fit specific attributes/roles/relationships, it doesn't always work that way.

The one guy who I think has the potential for that level that will MAYBE be there in the third is Texas' Mike Davis. Other than that, you start to run into questions regarding a guys hands, route running, athleticism, etc. Because of the depth of the position in the 2014 Draft, the Chiefs will theoretically have a choice of a player with the #23 pick who, in any other draft class, could be considered a top ten level talent. If they pick a guard over a guy like that, Imma gonna be pissed. Now, if they trade back and pick up an early to mid second rounder to go along with a late first or early second in such a scenario and select a guy like Donte Moncrief and Gabe Jackson, then, yeah, I'd take that in a heartbeat. However, if they don't trade the pick, then taking either Beckham, Lee or Cooks would be a coup. And while it's a deep draft for the position into even the fifth round, there won't be a guy with the talent that either of those three once you get past those three. There will be a drop off at that point. |

What sucks is the Broncos get to pick in this draft and they don't need to.
