Montana and the Testicle Festival
We just completed a 3,830 round trip to Montana, a jaw dropping beautiful state. My first time there, if you haven't been you should put it on your list.
On our way back between Missoula and Billings, we saw a huge billboard promoting the "Testicle Festival." We couldn't believe our eyes and were laughing going down the highway at 90 for a while, curious what it was all about. Have any of you ever attended? Having a ball or two http://www.vice.com/read/having-a-ba...e-festival-999 |

There are several around here. The biggest one is a fundraiser for KSU I think. Knights of Columbus put one on too. I'm not big on them. They're meh but dudes love them (and by them I mean an excuse to drink beer) Oh and our here it's called a nut fry. |

Weren't they normally pig nuts? This Montana thing if you read the link is five days long and has a bunch of events. Are the "nut frys" like that? |

I've always heard the call Mountain Oysters. Not the least bit interested in eating any.

They gotta be cooked right. Sort of like calamari in that too much heat & they get chewy. I used to eat them with the shrimp sauce and living where the cattle most likely out number the humans out west in Hays, Ks. Taste like chicken, lol.

I wouldn't call the testicle festival a bastion of culture, but it can be a good time.

Maybe it is availability? "Rocky Mountain oysters, also known as prairie oysters in Canada, is a dish made of bull, pig or sheep testicles. The organs are often deep-fried after being peeled, coated in flour, pepper and salt, and sometimes pounded flat. Wikipedia"

I've had beef nuts and pig nuts. Both are ok. If I'm gonna fry a bunch of stuff, I'd just as soon do chicken gizzards and wings. All they are is an excuse to sit around and drink beer, which isn't a half bad idea
