When will Steve Balboni's HR record be broken?
The Royals' single-season franchise home run leader has long been a somewhat embarrassing record that somehow survived the entire steroid era and has now stood for three decades. Steve Balboni mashed 36 dingers in 1985.

As of right now, Mike Moustakas is on pace for roughly 56 dongs in 2016. Will he be the one to finally break this record with a less embarrassing number? Or will he cool off?

He's off to a good start. The steroid era was probably the best shot to break it, but even guys like Gaetti and Dean Palmer only hit into the mid 30s. That was also around the time they moved the fences in for a few years. Now they're pushed back out. It's the largest park in the league next from Coors, and there you have the benefit of altitude.

And nowadays, hitting 30+ HR is an accomplishment again. Last year only 20 players in the entire league did it. The year before only 11 did it.

I think he'll cool off. I'd be amazed if anyone on the current roster makes it to 30.
