Candylicious: Round 1, Heats 17 through 20

Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.

Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as a gladiator), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar).

So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are!

Heat 17:

Pearson's Bun - Vanilla versus gumdrops

Heat 18:

Goobers versus Ferrero Rocher

Heat 19:

Curly Wurly versus Mr. Goodbar

Heat 20:

Jolly Ranchers versus Sour Razzles

Only one I'm voting for is Jolly Ranchers. And this "original" bullshit has to stop. Blue raspberry is not an original flavor.

Quote:
Jolly Rancher candies original flavors were grape, apple, watermelon, and Fire Stix, later were cherry, orange tangerine, lemon, and sour apple. Later, blue raspberry replaced lemon. In 2013, lemon was reintroduced in an all-lemon bag. Current flavors include cherry, blue raspberry, grape, sour apple and watermelon.

Damn. I thought I nominated Ferrero Rocher until I saw the picture. Went back through the thread and saw the thumbnail attachment of the pic a few pages ahead of me. Who uses thumbnail attachments in the 21st century? WTF IS THIS!?!?!

I feel like I let myself down now. I have no horse in this race.

There is a good chance your favorite candy bar was from the 40s or 50s. What does year introduced have to do with if its good or bad. Also so many of you admit to never trying a candy but sure have strong opinions of where its stands.

Never heard of Bun, but I'm not a fan of gumdrops. It looks good, so I voted for it.

It's kind of amazing now that you mention it. The great era of candy bar innovation was apparently the WWII era. What have we gotten since? It took another fifty years to start getting different flavors of M&Ms. Do we need a new candy bar renaissance, or has candy bar innovation reached its apex?

It really does look good. I may have to hunt one down.

We have a couple of other Bun flavors in other heats too, if I remember right.

The Take 5 came out in the 2000's, so they're doing some good things nowadays, too.

Never had a take five. What's in it chocolate nuts some sort or caramel, peanut butter nougat. Some of the same old stuff from 40 and 50s.
