My understanding is they've started asking if you use your car in a ride-sharing service as a standard question. My understanding is some plans even if you get in an accident just driving yourself to the grocery store if you've been using your car at some point in a commercial application they say it voided the coverage.

I used Uber for the first time today (just didn't feel like doing a rental car!), and it was pretty cool. I'm sure the first time is always the most odd, but I got both the personal and corporate account in there, and it proved to be ~17% cheaper.
So it was cool, and I'm sure the next time I use Uber it'll be a bit simpler. I did find the 'no tipping' thing a bit strange. But if that's their model, that's their model. |

You have to pay for the gas, the devaluation of your vehicle, the wear and tear on your vehicle, maintenance costs....you'd be lucky to take home half of what you earn.

A friend of mine says he makes a lot more money working for Yellow Cab. I don't really know the difference.

I took a 25 minute Uber ride in LA it was $15. I have no idea how the guy can make money doing that. I'll take it tho!

My daughter did it up in Tallahassee for just two months after her online job was automated out. Mainly during her post-grad internship...but she started at 1 AM and worked to 4 AM to get the drunks needing rides from the bars. Student drunks. She made $80 in that time frame. I didn't like it though....but thankfully she didn't do it long.

Back... The dude literally stopped on the cross-walk bars at the airport, so I was all about jumping in and telling him that A) adding car color would help, and B) I had not only never done this before, trip #1 was going on the corporate side of my account.
All went well. One ride into it my opinion is that it's awesome. |

I usually end up doing the same. Mostly its about really appreciating the convince of the ride vs. trying to call a cab or driving yourself but conversation can go all over the place. I am a big fan of Uber, particularly when taking it to the airport instead of paying for parking. Its really great being dropped off and not dealing with parking your car.
