As the beginning of the NFL's new league year inches closer, with teams able to officially make trades on March 9, the Chicago Bears have actively started seeking a trade partner for quarterback Jay Cutler, multiple league sources said.

Teams around the league are now aware of Cutler's availability while the Bears attempt to garner draft compensation for their eight-year starter, and conversations are expected to heat up during next week's NFL scouting combine.

It is not a surprise that Cutler's future in Chicago is in question -- but the start of official trade talks is a major step in that process.

While Cutler's contract does not include a no-trade clause, there remains a widespread belief that a deal will require both Cutler and the Bears to agree on the suitor. Cutler, 33, has little incentive to play for a noncompetitive team given the lack of any guaranteed money in his current contract, sources with NFL teams privy to the details said.

As a result, it remains possible that the Bears' decision to pursue a trade could leave them in a sticky situation with their quarterback. Will this effort ultimately lead them to simply release Cutler if they are unable to find a suitable partner willing to give up draft picks?

Those 2 guys, specifically Musgrave are all about developing QBs... that's another reason I'm confident the team won't do something dumb like signing Romo. They are going to do all they can to find out if either of these QBs can be a long-term answer.

Yes, Kubes had health issues but the big reason he stepped down IMHO opinion was that He and Elway were at odds who should be QBing this next year. Elway drafted Lynch and Siemian was Kubes draft pick. And we all know who was "head and shoulders" last year at the QB position and to your point about Elway bringing in McCoy along with Musgrave to expedite Paxton's development. And Elway didn't need Kubes bucking him on who should be starting and why Elway hired Joseph a D guy so Elway can call the offensive shots. I like your boy Siemian because he can truly spin the ball and he is smart you can see that and Elway saw it as well and his ego got threatened. I agree with you that at this point you really don't know IF Trevor is the long term answer BUT you need to see him play behind a legit O-line and then you will have a better feel for him IMHO.
