I'd like to start watching hockey; but I have zero clue on the rules; icing, off sides etc

Off Sides - You can't enter the offensive zone (pass the blue line) before the puck crosses the line. Even if you have control of the puck

Icing - When the puck his hit from the defensive side of the rink (so anything beyond the center line) across the goal line (the line that lines up with the front of the goal). It can be waived off if an offensive player could have played the puck, or if the goalie makes a move for the puck, or if it is actually on goal.
