I hope you are right, because if that is the case, it's just about the dumbest trade in the world. I'll love it if that actually happens. SD will go from being the second best team in the AFCW to the bottom feeder of the AFCW.

Here's the article...
By Phil Sheridan - ESPN PHILADELPHIA – We are officially up to our ears in speculation with the NFL draft almost two weeks away. The good news for Philadelphia Eagles fans is that after April 30, Marcus Mariota will be the property of some NFL team. Even if that somehow becomes the Eagles, at least there won’t be any more speculation about Mariota and Eagles coach Chip Kelly. There will simply be facts. Meanwhile, the speculation is running deep. The latest scenario, advanced by Kenneth Arthur of Sports On Earth, is a pretty interesting one. It includes the Eagles getting Mariota while trading quarterback Sam Bradford and the 20th pick of the draft to San Diego. It seems plausible at first glance, but it requires a lot of pieces to fall into place. Some of them already have, which is the reason for the speculation in the first place. San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers, who has one year left on his contract, has indicated that he will not talk about an extension with the Chargers. Rivers is concerned about the rumors that the Chargers will be playing in Los Angeles in the near future. If Rivers wants out, the Chargers are better off getting something for him while his market value is high. Rivers is 33, but that still gives him four or five prime seasons left. Tennessee Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt went to the Super Bowl in Arizona with 37-year-old Kurt Warner at quarterback. Coming off a 2-14 season with several quarterbacks, including rookie Zach Mettenberger, Whisenhunt might prefer a proven commodity like Rivers to a raw rookie like Mariota. Whisenhunt was the Chargers’ offensive coordinator in 2013, so he’s worked with Rivers. In Arthur’s scenario, the Chargers would prefer a more established quarterback to Mariota. That’s where the Eagles and Bradford come in. If the Titans send the No. 2 pick to San Diego for Rivers, the Chargers could then send it on to Philadelphia for Bradford. The No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft for the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft. It sounds good, except that Bradford comes with all the warning signs that worried Eagles fans when they acquired him from St. Louis. He hasn’t played for the past season-and-a-half after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament twice. Before that, while playing in an unstable situation in St. Louis, Bradford managed a career passer rating of 79.3 and a record of 18-30-1. To Kelly, Bradford’s quick release, strong arm and potential all outweighed that. Perhaps San Diego coach Mike McCoy would feel the same way. Would Bradford represent a possible upgrade over Rivers? If Bradford is healthy, it’s an interesting debate. Rivers has put up excellent numbers in his career. But the Chargers have finished within a game of .500 for each of the last five seasons. That’s a record of mediocrity that begins to define a quarterback. As for the Eagles, the question becomes whether a deal like this would fit the definition of “mortgaging the future,” something Kelly said he would not do. The Eagles traded Nick Foles and a second-round pick to St. Louis for Bradford. So their total cost for Mariota in this scenario would be Foles, a first-round pick this year, a first-round pick and a second-round pick next year for Mariota. That sounds a little more like Kelly’s definition of “mortgaging the future” than Bradford-for-Mariota sounds. An interesting side question: This would all be simpler if the Eagles could simply trade Bradford (plus additional picks) to Tennessee for the second pick. Clearly, Arthur's scenario relies on Whisenhunt preferring the 33-year-old Rivers to the 27-year-old Bradford. If you’re the Eagles, that should concern you. The Rams already demonstrated that they prefer Foles to Bradford. Now here’s a team willing to trade the second pick in the draft – a serious asset – for Rivers rather than Bradford. The concerns about Bradford’s knee clearly are higher in other NFL front offices than they are at the NovaCare Complex. As for the Chargers, if they were willing to do this, it might say less about Bradford’s knee than about Rivers. If he really won’t commit beyond 2015, then the Chargers have to consider their options. Bradford comes with some risk, but then so does Mariota. |

Now, now; I'm sure we'll build a super line of fatty's to get Alex his one and only Chiefs wild card win.

I'm thinking that TN trades the #2 and Mettenberger to SD for Rivers and SD's #1. Mettenberger is an interesting prospect but I think he has back problems?

There hasn't been a reasonable scenario that's come out as of yet.
The cHargers are in a bit of trouble with the following players being pending FAs after this season: Rivers Weddle Gates Liuget Floyd Liuget is the only one under 30. They can't possibly sign them all to extensions, (nor would they want to), so the options are to start a rebuild or go SB or bust. |

Pretty sure the Chiefs the past two years have been the second best team in the afcw.

They could go defense with the #2 pick, lots of talent sitting there.

I'm in favor of the Bolts doing whatever to get Rivers out of SD.
