Having Moncrief's insane height/weight/speed combination in conjunction with Andrew Luck's vision and arm is going to absolutely be a deadly. In fact, right out of the gate, this is going to be one of the most deadly QB/WR combos in the NFL.

I bet he eclipses the Chargers' Keenan Allen's 2013 numbers.
Man, I'm with you on this one - I wanted Moncrief in the third. However, saying he's going to eclipse Allen's rookie numbers is a bold statement, even if Luck is his cube. There are still questions about his hands and route running ability.

But overall, yeah, he's going to be good.

Actually, his route running is very good.

Quote:
Moncrief's thick frame, deceptive speed and smooth route-running make him a nightmare for cornerbacks. He lacks the explosive moves of Sammy Watkins and Marqise Lee, but he has the skill set to develop into every bit of the NFL receiver as the more highly acclaimed duo.
Moncrief is a big man with the footwork of a little guy, enabling him to maneuver his large body into a position where he can make the catch against quicker, faster defensive backs. His 156 catches, 2,371 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns are all third-best all-time in the Ole Miss record book.

He is sudden in his breaks, showing the ability to generate separation even against tight man coverage, and accelerates quickly, often leaving defenders in his dust on double-moves. Moncrief tracks the ball well and generally shows excellent hands (one drop vs. Texas), as well as the body control to make the dazzling grab. Moncrief is also cognizant in the running game, showing awareness and toughness as a downfield blocker

Ready, willing and able to surprise cornerbacks with excellent route running that makes him more dangerous more often than receivers who rely mainly on speed. He will also do damage as a blocker in the running game.
Think of a faster, more athletic Dwayne Bowe who runs good routes, has good hands and who is also focused on his craft. The guy was also one of the youngest players in the draft at 20 years old.

The Colts absolutely stole him and Dorsey should have been crucified for passing him up for Gaines.

I can't think of a more perfect spot for Moncrief to land than Indy and he'll make Luck even that more dangerous.

Well, I stand corrected. Maybe I had him mixed up with another guy, but I would have sworn his knock was his routes and/or hands.

Moncrief in this system would have been nails as well. A kid with his potential on a team with Bowe, Charles, DAT, and a healthy (I assume) Kelce? I'd take that.

And for the record, I was 100% in agreement with you for us taking Van Noy in the first and Moncrief in the third. I'm just not as down on Ford and Gaines as you are. Maybe I'm homering too hard with the Ford pick, we'll see.

That TD around the 1:05 mark is NFL caliber.

Moncrief would have been absolute balls out in this system. I'm ****ing pissed about the Gaines pick because Moncrief was there, not because Gaines sucks or anything, though, as Direckshun has previously stated, there was about 50 guys I would have taken over Gaines at that spot and Moncrief was at the top of the list -easily. I'm already pissed thinking about the Chiefs giving the ****ing Colts that big of a weapon. You think Luck enjoyed throwing the ball to TY Hilton against us? Imagine that being Moncrief instead.

And Van Noy would have given this team immediate flexibility and production in every defensive set we run.

Seriously...I don't get it. The 2014 Chiefs draft just befuddles the **** out of me.

Because we are talking about legitimate ROY canidates, not some guy who is going to be in a dogfight for PR/KR duties against some Canadian league guy or an UDFA rookie from Georgia State. Thomas is going to have his hands full just trying to make this roster, while Moncrief has a legit shot at 1,400 yards and 10 TD's or more as a rookie.

I think Moncrief is going to be good, but that's a lot of hype for a guy who hasn't played a snap yet.

I personally thought he was top three at his position in this past draft (and that was before the Combine which he absolutely blew up).

With his incredible ceiling based on his size and measurables and abilities at this stage and throw him in with a guy like Andrew Luck, I think he's set up to do some amazing things right from the get go.

(As well, Luck is being teamed with his former offensive coordinator from Stanford, Pep Hamilton, who is a very bright and creative offensive guy.)
