Changes that need made to turn the season around

Let's get right down to it.

Start Chase Daniel or Aaron Murray....I think the team would rally around either guy.
Run the ball more...get West and Sherman involved a lot more.
Start Conley and get him involved in the weekly gameplan...this should be our counter punch to teams consistently blitzing.
Activate Steven Nelson and have him play the nickel.
Feed the ball to Kelce and Maclin a lot more...especially on third down.
Let Howard have the NT job full time. The DL was stronger when he was playing more reps. At least IMO.
Move Poe to end full time.
Andy needs to hand over play calling duties to Childress, or Pederson.

I know there are lots of other changes that need made, but that should get us started.

Some want to point at all the sacks and qb hits and make it out that it's all on the guys up front, essentially giving smith a pass, when he's the reason for alot of it.

Of course the ol will struggle when there's 8 or 9 defenders playing forward from 10 yards every play.they've got no chance. If you did that to any other qb in the league that's not a complete shit bird, you'd get murdered.

Everyone wants to go to coaching, or philosophy or whatever. It's redundant and dumb.

The qb allows defenses to play in a 15 yard box, coming forward.

Yeah, the broncos defense is great. So is the Texans pass tush. But they've essentially got our qb scared to death of getting hit

Get real...sit Tardif replace with Allen. Sit Berry, replace with Abdullah. Play Poe in 1st quarter, Howard early in 3rd and 4th quarter, do not play Nelson until after the Bye and then start Ramik Wilson too. Bench Harris. Conley needs to play, Wilson or Hammond in the slot instead of DAT. Sink or swim with Ford...Hali is old and fat now.

One major thing is Smith needs to start going deep...even if the WR is covered. He has to give them an opportunity to make a play. There is a chance for PI...its the same as a punt if the ball is intercepted. It seems he over throws those in an attempt to limit a TO...but it doesn't matter that far down the field. This will open up things underneath. If teams dont think you wont even try but once a game..it changes how they defend you.

Defenses are teeing off on the short shit....I'm not against those but you have to balance it out. Start targeting Kelce 8 times a game too... Way way way too passive so far.

It would help if he could get the ball in the same zip code on those attempts.

Secondly, Doug Pederson called the plays during preseason and the offense looked very different and scored a lot of points.
Several? He's only started 2 games since he's been here. In 2014, 16/28 for a whole 157 yards. His game in 2013, 25/38 for 248. Yeah, that strikes a lot of fear into most teams in the NFL.

We are 5 for 30 on 3rd down. Smith looks worse than Cassel did.

That strikes fear into most NFL defenses too.

I do think "several" is overstating, but Dane is referring to the preseason.

Chase did get a look at the Cards and Seahawks first team defenses for a series in each game.

That pass was similar to the one he over-threw to Albert....its seems like he does this to avoid an INT. That needs to stop...he needs to give Kelce a chance. He is a mis-match.

Like I said a while back...Smith is on a short rope with me. He is missing wide open opportunities...and throwing to his safety valve when it isn't necessary. This isn't lost on Dorsey...Smith was Reid's choice.

How often do you see a contested catch from Smith...you dont. He waits until someone is wide open....nothing wrong with that but he has to let his WR's make a play too. It's getting to the point of being ridiculous.

All those years in SF really ****ed him up...I dont want a Cutler type but he needs to trust someone other than himself.

If Smith has 2 completions for 7 yards at half......they have to make a change. That's unacceptable with the talent on this team...you can get that production from a 3rd stinger. It's actually unacceptable period....he should be embarrassed. He got paid $500k for seven yards...

If he doesn't come out sharp...KC needs to wash their hands.

Honestly, I'd be beyond thrilled if they would just give Aaron Murray a shot. He's had 2 off seasons in the offense, his knee is better than ever and he can read defenses, go through progressions and showed in PS that he can ball.

It's time to say **** these cast offs from other teams all together and play only people we draft.

Create competition at the most important position until we get our own kid.

Start with Murray.

Daniel is in the last year of his contract...keep him as the primary backup.

The most bizarre aspect of this is KC has a top 5 defense...that should inspire the QB to take chances. If KC loses against the Bengals...then **** it. Time to move on..it's year three and Smith has regressed with better talent. This is a must win for Smith...in my mind....and I have defended him. Their roster is pretty much equal with KCs.

If they go to Daniel (and they will if Alex continues to suck) there better be a short leash.
