Okay.

This team defines what a good team is. Did you see that folks? The Jays went into Yankee stadium and spanked them 6-0.

I'm feeling awfully good right now....And you know what? I'm gonna feel even better when they go for the sweep tomorrow. I'm feeling high fellas from winning. Now I could see how you guys felt last year when you went on that winning skid and came within a game of winning the World Series. That's just an awfully good feeling, eh? I empathize with you. I know I will this year

You know what's interesting guys? When a lot of critics, like yourselves, heh say we have pitching issues but guess what? Since the all-star break, the Toronto Bluejays have a 14-6 record with team 2.71 Era which is best in the majors.

Fellas, I can't help myself but when you're this good, all I gotta say is:

Except the Jays' opening day payroll was only 5M more than the Royals. If anything Rogers (the Jays corporate owner) is very cheap considering how big the market is.

Yeah, but the royals picked up a bunch of cash in their trades. And the royals could never afford to take on a contract like Tulos.

The Tulo trade was a neutral salary trade as they shipped Reyes out at the same time (both making 20M).

The Jays are so cheap that they had to have the DBacks pick up the bill today on the Pennington trade (and traded an actual prospect to make that happen). Management has even been told now they can't add any more salary.

I'm kind of worried that you're saying this because it now makes me think we will not keep all 3 Price, Buerhle and Estrada. All of whom are schedule to become UFAs at the end of the season.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about keeping any of them, let alone all of them.

But if the Jays make a playoff run for the first time in forever, I wouldn't entirely write it off either.

You know what's funny? The Blue Jays have either the richest or 2nd richest ownership group in baseball(maybe behind the Dodgers) and haven't won shit in over 20 years.

Rogers only cares about the Blue Jays to the extent that they can use them to improve the profitability of their overall business, so that isn't surprising. Have rarely been in the top 10 in payrolls since they bought the team in 2000.
