ESPN: Why Non-Elite QB's get elite contracts
Pretty interesting read from Jim Trotter at ESPN. We're next.

People still don't understand Russell Wilson. He throws the ball down the field quite a bit based on percentage of attempts.
You need to have that ability whether you're throwing the ball 25 times a game or 40 times a game. Game managers typically don't have it. Russell Wilson does. He's not a game manager. |

Something else that doesn't show a very good model for success is the Chiefs way of finding a QB.

Just because a QB doesn't ever win a title doesn't make him "not worth" the money. There's a lot of value in a consistent winner, regardless of stats.

The Giants have won 2 SBs without an elite QB.
The Ravens have won a SB without an elite QB. The Seahawks just won the SB without an elite QB. That means that 4 of the last 7 seasons have seen the SB won by a team without an elite QB. So, given that, exactly what the hell is the point of this article, or this thread? |

How many SBs have the league's leading passers won in the history of the NFL?

Russel Wilson last season threw 60 20+ balls.
900 yards and 9 TD only 2 were dropped was a nice year but also 5 INTs but not so lucky when these throws were in the 30+ range *only 6 completions and 3 INT* Alex Smith last season threw 41 20+ balls. 400 yards and 4 TD had 6 dropped 0 INT on any pass 20+ |

Last season Russell Wilson won a SB and Alex did not, so there's that. |

Nah. I was listening about it today. There is so much dead money in the contacts, many of them with outs after two years. I think it's brilliant.

If you dont have an elite guy you better have a decent guy with a reasonable contract you can build around. That was also supposed to be part of the Alex Smith upside. We will see. |
