Hardest Video Games All Time

I have been going on a nostalgia tour of NES games played right on the console. No save states, no cheats, just hard-core, kick you in the balls gaming.

What are the games that caused you to swing the controller by the wire like a medieval mace, bringing it down upon the floor reducing it to an explosion of plastic shrapnel?

Let us know the game, what parts of the game were brutal, and the notable reactions the impossible scenarios summoned from deep within.

Ghosts n Goblins. NES.

You had to beat the game basically without being hit more than a few times.

Not technically the game itself, but I could never beat Emerald or Ruby Weapons in Final Fantasy VII.
