Post your top 5 rock albums of all time

A continuance of the Top 5 Rock Bands thread.

Mine are (no in order);

Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction
AC/CD - Back in Black
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
The Eagles - The Long Run
Van Halen - 1

I couldn't pick just one Rolling Stones album and I thought Hot Rocks was a cop out so I didn't include it.

Because the standard list of:

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"
The Beatles "Sgt. Peppers"
Rolling Stones "Exile on Main Street"
Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde"
Led Zeppelin "I through IV"
Radiohead's "OK Computer"
The Who's "Who's Next"

is just that - standard. We all know that those are magnificent albums. Also, all Smith and Cure and Tool albums are excluded based on the fact that they are generally regarded as awesome by just about everyone.

However, I'd like to provide Sac's "Deep Cuts" Version of the five best rock 'n roll records of all time:

1. The Modern Lovers - "The Modern Lovers"
- The best pure rock and roll album ever. Simple, raw and encompasses the purity of why you start a band in the first place - to get laid. It's insanely hip, intelligent, timeless and everytime I listen to it, it makes me want to get drunk as shit and pick up chicks. If I had a band, whether it was a country, metal, jazz, rock or whatever genre, I would cover at least four songs off this album. Recorded in 1971 and released in 1976. It's amazing that this album even exists as the band broke up, and Richman basically refused to do his earlier works and wanted the original recordings destroyed.

2. Nick Drake - "Pink Moon"
- The absolute quintessential singer/songwriter album. Every song just absolutely tears your guts out from an emotional perspective. Absolutely tortured poet soul who was light years beyond his contemporaries, I consider Drake and his Pink Moon as the musical equivalent of Melville's "Moby Dick." It sold only 5,000 copies when it was released in 1972, but has gone on to influence countless artists.

3. Prefab Sprout - "Two Wheels Good" (Steve McQueen)
- The absolute pinnacle of the '80's new wave sound. Brilliant musicianship, songwriting and production (produced by Thomas Dolby). It's rich and silky and emotionally deep with Paddy McAloon's amazing songwriting and vocals just making every track an absolute pleasure. 1985 was one of the greatest years in music ever.

4. My Bloody Valentine - "Loveless"
- There's been a couple of occurances where I put on an album and the roof of my head has completely blown off. This is one. The massive wall of sound of guitar and synth driven distortion perfectly integrated with lush, shoegaze vocals results in one of the most amazing musical listening experiences I've ever had. Released in 1991, it was the second album by My Bloody Valentine and the last until 22 years later when they released "mbv" in 2013.

5. Danzig - "Danzig II - Lucifuge"

I think it's ****ing brilliant. Schlocky, chuggy metal coupled with some of the most amazing vocals ever heard. And I honestly can't stand anything else put out by Glenn. Don't like the Misfits and the rest of the Danzig albums suck. This one is insane though. Blues, good old Rock n' Roll and metal fused together perfectly in this 1990 release.

Other considerations:
KMFDM "Angst"
Los Lobos "Kiko"
White Zombie "Astro Creep 2000"
The BoDeans "Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams"
The Cult "Love"
Steve Earl "I Feel Alright"

Per post basis.

I'd have seriously negged you if you put up Bowie's blasphemy cover of Pablo Picasso.

My "popular" picks:

1. Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic"
- Walk this Way, Sweet Emotion, title cut, etc. Really a phenomenal album front to back.
And it spawned a classic CP thread. Aerosmith at their absolute best.

2. Black Sabbath "Paranoid"
- The best four songs to start an album, any album, in the history of music. I had this album when I was in sixth grade and I was scared to listen to it. Too much heavy, too much dark, too much. However, when I was in my early 30's, I was driving home from work and War Pigs came on and I had this revelation, an epiphany. The heavens opened and I realized how remarkable this album was. Gives me goosebumps when I listen to it.

3. Boston "Boston"
- Masterpiece of music. Innovative, both in structure and production and recording. Utilized a number of handmade projects of founder Tom Scholtz, such as the Rockman, that influenced some of the greatest albums in rock history. Vocals were insane and everything works to perfection. Every song is an absolute classic.

4. Bee Gees "Saturday Nigh Fever Soundtrack"
- The Gibb brothers, along with friends, created one of, if not the most memorable and greatest movie soundtrack albums in history. Right from the opening note, you know this is some special shit.

5. Michael Jackson "Thriller"
- Another near greatest hits album from one of the truly great artists at his creative peak. Eddie Van Halen, Paul McCartney make guest appearances. Genius.
