Final Thoughts: Cutdowns

Didn't get to watch much of last preseason game except late 3rd & all 4th quarter - Hogan looks really raw but I saw some pretty good passes - O'Shags looked like shit dropping all kinds of passes. I see that Murray had 2 INT's, Dadi Nicolas had 2 sacks and Streater had some nice yardage, I think Knile Davis made his trade value go up.....

Anyone else? Who gets the final roster spots and PS spots based upong tonights performance?

I forget we need to keep DAT so he can get injured and miss half the year, seems to be his worth to the team.

This regarding DAT. He's played well enough, just don't know if he's out of the team's doghouse for how he went AWOL last season.

I'm not proclaiming that he's worthless forever but that as of today, he doesn't deserve a spot on the 53. But since they spent a 3rd on him (and a decent sized signing bonus), he's not going anywhere.

But I sure hope he at least approaches some of the offseason hype at some point this season or next.

Kevin Hogan may actually be the only pick that gets cut this year.

I've only watched one preseason game this year (which is weird for me, because I usually watch them all).

Do you guys think DAT is now the WR that Albert Wilson is? As in, can he operate in all sets and not just the stupid special gadget ones?

If he's solid enough to play in 3 and 4 receiver sets like Wilson, I'd like to see him make the cut over Wilson.

Otherwise, we'll have to make a choice, and I'd actually lean towards Wilson. Just don't make him work for it, that's all.

The Chiefs and DAT seem to be "playing nice" but no one outside of the organization knows if it's an act to trade him or the truth.

I'd imagine we'll know in the next 36 hours...

Dat has looked much improved as an actual wr this year.

Like dane said, I dunno if it's an attempt to get traded or what, but he's legit been a good wr in game situations.

It appears the competition of Hill has forced dat to really progress nicely. Now, I dunno if he can stay healthy and or keep his head together or whatever happened last year.

But to me, he's looked head and shoulders better than Wilson

I have no idea what Reid is thinking, as we've yet to see Streater with the 1's.

From my POV, the WR's should be Maclin and Conley on the outside with Streater in the slot. #4 would be Hill, #5 DAT. If they keep six guys, the final roster spot would go to Robinson, Wilson or Hammond.

But if they keep six WR's, I don't see how they keep 4 TE's or 5 RB's.

I don't know how many snaps that Wilson had this preseason......but 3 catches for 17 yards is a little pathetic. Especially considering that Maclin and Conley both showed up.

I don't think they are keeping 4 TE's or 5 RB's.

I think 4 RB's is only slightly possible because of Davis returning kicks.

Why keep 5 rbs?

I like Reaves alot and think he can play in the league, but he's the 4th best rb on this roster. Numbers game and he's probably gone here.

I could see 4 TE's but I don't know that it's really a necessity.

Considering the Chiefs initially signed Streater and Mike Williams, along with drafting DeMarcus Robinson while bringing back DAT and Hammond, one could easily surmise that the reason for adding these players was to upgrade the slot position and depth of this team, which would put Wilson's job in jeopardy.

I'm not suggesting that they keep five but it's been suggested that they'll do so.

Sherman, Charles, West, Ware, Reaves.

Keep in mind, the Chiefs were down to their 4th string running back in New England (Davis), who fumbled in the Red Zone and ultimately failed the team.

It's hard to believe that Reaves would slip through waivers and back on to the PS, so they'd need to find yet another player off the waiver wire to groom on the PS if they choose to go with four.

I don't get the 4 TE thing but I don't think it's out of the question.
