Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

There is this new thing called QB rating. Have you heard of it? It's where you take all of the QB's statistics and compile them into a meaningful number in order to evaluate the QB's play as a whole. You should google it. What was Cassel's rating last year BTW?

The new CBA changed the way teams can draft quarterbacks. Now it is affordable to have a top ten pick, and a 6-8 mil gate keeper. Alex isn't preventing anybody from getting brought in, if you guys get a guy better than alex smith, he will take over as quarterback for you. Until you do, the team could do a lot worse than alex smtih.
"Continue to win" Continue to win what, exactly? Harbaugh wants a Super Bowl win, he knows Smith is incapable of getting him there, so he drafts Kaepernick. It's ****ing simple, really, if you choose to see it.

I don't care if the Chiefs "get back to winning" 8, 9, 10, games a season. It will all be meaningless because they won't be able to make the next step with Smith. Why is that so ****ing hard for you Alex Smith knob-slobbering fools to realize?

The Chiefs have THREE playoff wins since winning the Super Bowl. THREE.

In that time period, the Chiefs have REPEATEDLY brought in retread quarterbacks. Other team's garbage at the position. It has led to a lot of regular season wins, some division titles and even some homefield advantages in the playoffs. And that's where the list stops.

What's wrong with 8-8 is that it is the same old crap. Not one Chiefs fan should be satisfied with being "respectable" if it's not building towards having a chance at WINNING in the playoffs and making it to another Super Bowl. sadly, many will be. Because our fanbase is full of morons who refuse to admit you need an elite QB to win anything of consequence in today's NFL.

Unless the Chiefs draft and develop a franchise QB in the 2013 or 2014 draft, it's just more running in place.
Yep. I would rather we keep having 2-14 seasons until we are forced to draft a QB in the first round. Go for the Super Bowl or go home. If you fail, reload and try again the next draft.

But as the chart shows, Cassel and Smith have identical Total QBR scores over the past five years. They were at 46.6. All starting quarterbacks were at 53.0 over that period.

You were asking a question that no one can answer. They probably won't, but it's not definite.

Hi all, this is snoop. To the great 49er fans here, i hope all is well. To the ones calling me a turn coat, and saying that I liked alex smith more than the 49ers, well, not exactly, i loved the 49ers but thanks to the depressive irritating fans on this board, I chose a side. even now that alex smith has brought great success to the 49ers with his mentoring of colin kaepernick, and camp alex, there are still guys here that bash the guy because hes not joe, or steve, or even colin. I cant accept that. And because of that, i was banned because my opinion was not popular opinion, and i voiced that. So, those who think im a turn coat, can kiss my tush. I could care less. best of luck to the true 49er fans, and to the rest of you, bite me.

Sincerely, Snoop
I will do that.

Alex almost took the 49ers to the superbowl, a lot closer than any chief has been since when the 80's, the 70's???

If you want to win with alex, you build strong personnel, solid coaching, and a good dependable defense. So lets look at drafting a QB this year:

There is not a #1 overall talent, so cross that off your wish list. So you get a guy later in the first round. You throw him onto a very bad team with a new scheme and you expect that unorganized cluster**** to somehow lead to an eventual superbowl???

Alex gives you time to develop a team that a young QB can take over and do well. have a little respect for a couple of the better QB minds in the game. Reid and Jim harbaugh have both proven to be very good with quarterbacks, and the fact that they both want this guys should tell you a little something about the less obvious things he brings to a football team.
