As far as common sense is concerned QBs have always been over drafted and the new CBA makes that a little easier. That doesn't mean there won't ever be a decent QB drafted later in the 1st round though.

So are you hoping for another 2 win season so we can get that franchise QB?
Landry Jones was also considered a top 10 pick last year so I'm not basing much on that fact. I put more into what actually happened in the past 2 drafts then where a guy might or might have not went in previous drafts.

No, it's possible to get a guy later in the rounds that might be very good. However I'd much rather put my chips in on the roulette ball landing on red or black then on green. I like playing the percentages and odds.

That's sort of became the whole theme to this whole debate. Some people want to play the odds and follow the rule and some people want to point out exceptions.

You said that a QB who was at one point looked at as a #1 prospect would never slip to the 20s. Barkley is the perfect prospect to watch to see if that holds true.

I hope my GM and HC don't just don't play the odds when picking a QB in the draft. It's all about getting the evaluation right. I guess we could go 2-14 next year though so the odds will be in our favor.

Harbaugh was smart enough to upgrade and bench Smith as soon has he got a chance.

Even Alex Smith's savior knew to get out of dodge asap.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I noticed you just avoided the whole part about the coach that saved Smith's career also dumping Smith.

Harbaugh knew enough to make the most of Alex Smith but also knew that Smith was a liability.

Kudos to Harbaugh for bending the Chiefs over in a trade.

I hate the whole Harbaugh family

No. What I said was that a QB that had a 50/50 shot at getting drafted at #1 in the draft would't slip to 20's. If you think Barkley is a 50/50 at going #1 this year. Most don't give him those odds yet.

You can evaluate all you want, but in the end you just don't know. Geno is a top 5-10 prospect in this draft by most everyones account now. You take a chance on someone with that ranking rather then fall back to what they did.

He stayed in school but at one point in time he was neck and neck with Luck. That was before RGIII got in the mix. Anyway I'm all for drafting Geno Smith at #1 but I still think Alex is an upgrade over Asstassel.

Well if that's the case, what's the big deal? If the Chiefs don't need a QB, that means they're kicking ****ing ass and winning playoff games.

That's just ludicrous. The Chiefs went 7-9 in 2011, a season in which they lost their starting running back, safety and tight end. A season in which the Chiefs saw three different starting QB's, none of which were anything more than average, if not the worst in the league.

Unless every single coach the Chiefs hired this offseason is a fraud, there's no way this team has a losing season in 2013, outside of catastrophic injury.
